lmfao wait a second...the mafia council is a real thing that is mod team approved/has site approval power? I just thought that was like a running gag. Who the hell would care if people want to play a game on a sub forum called Forum Games.

So like if I decided I wanted to run a mafia game tomorrow and 9 people signed up I would be told no, even though there are no written site rules I can see even on the special Forum rules section right above?

Are there other rules for other forum style games like last person to post wins, etc?

If so can someone please write these rules down so we can add them to the Forum rules of this sub forum ASAP so we're not going based on word of mouth?

They made the council because dipshits were making setups with 7 pr vs 5 mafia and running fake all vig games and taking months to create shitty setups. Plus some drunk asshole deleted an entire ongoing game on some server barely affiliated to webdip and then lost his ability to gm because what happens in vegas applies to webdip. Plus people wanted more power and wanted to dictate who was capable of running a setup. Theres more but the basic jist of it was to have a governing body that attempted to make the games more balanced.

That governing body ultimately failed as multiple setups since m20 have been approved which werent balanced. I believe there was a game with 24 players that had 4 mafia somehow. Another setup where some jackass gave everyone a bunch of items and a broken 3rd party role, another where there was a game breaking role called a lightning rod.

The list goes on. Council was there to pretend to read setups and thumbs up anyone who wanted to gm.

Yeah that was 100% my fault and I'll totally admit my error. It was a 20 player game with 4 quite powerful Mafia, to which I then allowed 4 more people to sign up, and stupidly just added 4 VTs to the setup, totally unbalancing it. I accept that was my mistake.

Having just admitted my earlier errors as GM, I would be willing to run this game if the group will allow me to.

I don't intend to ask the permission of the Council. If the players who've signed up would like me to GM, and if someone wants to take my slot, I'll get on it.

@Jmo - The Mafia Council was set up because a certain GM decided to destroy a game that everyone had put a considerable amount of time into because he was annoyed at one of the players. Its primary purpose was to ensure that wouldn't happen again and imo it did a pretty good of that (mainly by preventing that person from GMing another game for a long while).
