Maniac's blog
1st April 2003.

Game was tense last night. We won at a canter 4-0. Interesting convo with my bestie Jamie T after the game about who he thought might be taking drugs. He seemed disinterested in anything I had to say. This is interesting. If you're taking drugs you want to look out for the people who are on to you or maybe sending concealed messages. Jamie T just wasn't interested and admitted he didn't take any notice of what I was saying.

I'm going to take Jamie T off my suspect list. He is now Jamie Trustworthy to me. I knew a man from the old country wouldn't be involved in drugs and cheating. Plays with a straight bat this guy.

I'm not much further forward in finding a druggy though. We have a team meeting at stupid o'clock which I'm going to have to miss. I'm make my views know before hand though.

So far my suspects are Brainbomb, Maniac, and Durga. Ifischl and Celaph are the next level down. Betcha 2 scum in that group of 5.

Glad to see nobody talking about mechanics.
Why wasn't Bona on this list? Just because he hadn't posted yet?
That's right.

No, the point is, using that approach on *any* group of three people yields useful info. You could pick the three of them at random and it would still be useful.
While I agree that any group of 3 people would give useful information, I think the person picking a good group of 3 people will make it more useful.
Define 'good' in this context please. Can be by example if you wish.
There are some obvious points like don't include yourself or the vig if they're outed.

Beyond that I would much rather get a group that is almost certainly clear (only not clear if all 3 are scum) than learn there is 1 or 2 scum in a group of 3. The latter is much less actionable. I could see a list like kgray, Vecna, a third (maybe rdr). They are my top two townreads right now and most likely to get us clears.

I like this. Good work.
I agree with you that Bozo's work is good, though I find it odd that you basically said the same thing 3 times.
I'm fond of repetition. Saying the same thing over and over in slightly different ways is good. I like repeating myself. It helps get the point across.

Rivera do you have scumreads so far?
Nope. This is a problem as is a quick game.

I don't even have solid townreads at this point.
Really? Not even one townread?
I tend to townread you for being logic and pushing the conversation but I didn't have that "she must he town monent".
Ifisch reaction to Vecna pressure looked towny, but with daychat it have less weight.
Vecna also didn't ring the must be town bell that usually happens.

I think Damo is laying too low and also Maniac, but can't call this a scumread.

Indeed. Yes. Quite. The point is that even at base level, it's quite useful. And it just gets more useful from there up.

I think Vecna's point is that you're scummy and I'm a little taken aback by the fact that it wasn't obvious to you.
Is this sarcasm?

Here is one way the PRs could proceed, if they both survive to D2. The Vig could target someone D1, then claim it D2. Assuming there is no CC, the Vig is cleared. That resolves 4 players by D2 (DK, NK, Vig kill, Vig). That leaves 8 players of unknown alignment from the Asker's perspective. If there are still 3 scum left, the Asker could ask if a group of 4 contains at least 2 scum. That provides a group of 4 (or possibly 3 depending on the DK) with at least 2 scum. If there are 2 scum left, asking if there are any scum in a group of 3 may be better. If there is only 1 scum left, narrowing the scum down to a group of 4 would provide 3 or 4 clears.
The Vig hitting the Asker would not be ideal, but at least we would have the result from the D1 question.

Asker will only give information after his death, are you suggesting we DK the Asker on D2 or I get it wrong?

Also:

I think lfischl seems towny too, but not so much because of how he reacted to Vecna. More the fact that he challenged Vecna in the first place.

Venca seems normal and towny to me.

Agreed on damo.

Maniac saying Jamie wasn't hunting and saying that's scummy but then calling him a townread is pretty much exactly what I expect from him.
