Re: MAFIA XXXVII: THE WHEEL OF WEB-TIME
People should read the Malazan book of the fallen series though. By far the best fantasy series ive ever read, and it puts the scale and storytelling of even Ice and fire/GoT to shame

Re: MAFIA XXXVII: THE WHEEL OF WEB-TIME
As I have somewhat tunnelled on Brainbomb I am now re-reading everyone else. Full reads list coming in an hour or so.
Re: MAFIA XXXVII: THE WHEEL OF WEB-TIME
What Vecna said. (Actually, he's the author who took over to finish the series after the original author, Robert Jordan, died.)
Re: MAFIA XXXVII: THE WHEEL OF WEB-TIME
I assume Damo and DemonRHK are just ignoring/missing the game, so I'm not sure pressure votes to participate will work. But I'd rather lynch one of them to avoid a mod-kill, and while I don't know Damo at all, DemonRHK has been active in previous games so maybe he'll show up last minute. So ##VOTE DAMO is a better place to park a vote for now.
I'm rereading and will post whatever thoughts I can distill from that before EOD.

Re: MAFIA XXXVII: THE WHEEL OF WEB-TIME
I don't understand - How do you read PeterLund as lynchworthy from only a few of posts???
Re: MAFIA XXXVII: THE WHEEL OF WEB-TIME
Is this another slip? Are you suggesting you can influence the NK? That is the only reasonable explanation I can make from this.
Whilst this may all be an act as part of your "meta" play, all the other scumreads so far are based on sketchier information than you have freely provided.
Re: MAFIA XXXVII: THE WHEEL OF WEB-TIME
@Bismarck, can you give us a little background on how much experience you have with Mafia or similar games? Have you played before? Did you win? Have you been on the mafia team before?BismarckAlive wrote: ↑Fri Jul 13, 2018 5:22 amI'm never gonna lynch anyone unless im certain they are my enemy. If you have a problem with that you dont know how to play.
Re: MAFIA XXXVII: THE WHEEL OF WEB-TIME
Apologies for lack of posts. Been in town saloon too long. Need to read to catch up and will then post again.

I think he was quoting Brainbomb.Foxcastle wrote: ↑Fri Jul 13, 2018 12:23 pm@Bismarck, can you give us a little background on how much experience you have with Mafia or similar games? @Foxcastle
Your quote was actually me requoting BB, but I agree wholeheartedly with it, hence my repost and challenge to BB to unvote me.
Played games like Mafia before, even FTF in a huge house that I swear at 1am was spooky and downright haunted-like. Having the moves read out loud with killings and the like sent shivers down my spine.
But first time playing Mafia in webdip forum.
Have you played both sides before? Or just town or mafia?

Re: MAFIA XXXVII: THE WHEEL OF WEB-TIME
He townread me too and especially if he has declared himself as mafia, that bothered me he touched us with his dirty hands.
I'm very afraid of that he is doing something. Maybe sacrificing himself for mafia team.
Re: MAFIA XXXVII: THE WHEEL OF WEB-TIME
This is my 6th game, all of which have been on the forum here. I've been town (and have survived to the town win, and been mislynched, variously) except for my first game where I played scum.
Re: MAFIA XXXVII: THE WHEEL OF WEB-TIME
You look for intentions. In this case the intention looked (to me) like he was trying to set up two townies for a mislynch, based on reasoning that did not feel like genuine town reasoning to me.
On day1, such feelings make people great lynch candidates for me. Much better than a brainbomb for example

So how are you interpreting the voting so far?
Are you seeing any signals there to how players you have played with before have voted?

Full reads coming in under 10 minutes. One person left to ISO.
Re: MAFIA XXXVII: THE WHEEL OF WEB-TIME
Im of the humble opinion that looking at votes this early in the game is nearly always a very bad idea. You dont know yet what type of mafia team youre dealing with. You dont know yet whether theyll easily throw their teammates under the bus to look good. You dont know yet whether theyre trying really hard to protect their teammates.BismarckAlive wrote: ↑Fri Jul 13, 2018 1:10 pmSo how are you interpreting the voting so far?

Without getting a good feel of the game, drawing conclusions from early votes will just lead to the wrong conclusions.
Look at reasoning and intentions. Look at whether people are genuine or just trying to push bullshit to look good.

Re: MAFIA XXXVII: THE WHEEL OF WEB-TIME
Reads at this point:
1. BismarkAlive: SLIGHT TOWN. Only two posts, comes across as a newbie with a willingness to learn. Those two posts contain 0% fluff and 100% engagement with matters of relevance to the game.
2. Bozo: SLIGHT TOWN. Straight in with an apparently sincere vote on Flash on P.2. Tentatively supports the hypo tracker idea. Argues sensibly against Teacher2's tracker hardclaim idea. Looking back, this is good logic from Bozo. Decides there is no reason to scumread Flash after all. Responds politely and informatively to Bismark's mistake about the night phase. Pressure votes Demon. Bozo looks towny to me.
3. Brainbomb: SCUM. I'm sure you all know my opinion on Brainbomb by this point. Please lynch him.
4. damo666: Recent anchor post and nothing else.
5. DemonRHK: Has not posted.
6. DoubtingThomas: SLIGHT SCUM. Very newb. Page 10 vote on Brainbomb appears somewhat OMGUS, then he joins the Bismarck pressure wagon where he currently remains. On P.13 a very sketchy comment about not wanting to cast a decisive vote. I have a question about this; see below.
7. DrCJG: NULL. Jokevotes Teacher2. Also engages in silly gambler's fallacy logic (about himself). Proposes a no-lynch, then says he opposes it. Then proposes a "hypo-tracker" strategy but doesn't advocate for it very strongly.
8. Flash2015: TOWN. Second most prolific poster, an excellent level of interaction for a newbie. He is well prepared and took the time to read previous games. Does the maths on Foxcastle's no-lynch proposal and his conclusion at the end of P.6 is well articulated. His scorn of the sincerity of the DrCJG wagon is also well argued. Asks good questions and wants to drive participation.
9. Foxcastle: SCUMLEAN. Has posted a lot, but most of it is lacking in substance. Lots of short posts making jokes, talking about cheese puns. I mean like he posted 28 times, but 8 of those posts are about cheese, and 5 of them are asking about the Peterbot, leaving only just over a dozen relevant posts, some of which pushed a no-lynch. Looks to me like Fox wishes to appear involved, without incriminating himself too much.
10. Jamiet99uk: Vanille Dorfbewohner
11. peterlund: NULL. Has hardly done anything. Jokevotes Vecna, talks about the time of day, activates his bot, speculates that me and Brain are Scum v Scum, removes his jokevote off Vecna. Needs to up his participation.
12. RagingIke: NULL. Jokevotes DrCJG. Pressure votes Damo. Talks about people's forum post volumes. Observes that newbies joining the Brainbomb wagon is interesting. That's it. Want to see more from this guy.
13. rdrivera2005: NULL. Not much for me to analyse.
14. Teacher2: TOWN. Sensible, questioning, making suggestions. Teach is either town or a *very* good actor. However I am glad we didn't go with his tracker hardclaim idea.
15. thedipplayer: NULL. Also super new. Three posts of which one contains content and another is a vote. The contentful post explains his logic about whether to vote for Brainbomb or not. It is generally a good idea for newbies to try to explain their thought process, so I like this, but that's all I've got to go on.
16. Vecna: Un-CC'ed Janitor. I always find Vecna hard to read but this looks like standard Vecna shit. Starts with a couple of really shitty pictures. Votes for me to "protect" Brainbomb apparently - weird. Votes for Peterlund in what looks like a joke vote despite being on P.15. Claims he is the Janitor. Posts a few reads. Question below.
17. Worcej: SLIGHT SCUM. His early vote on DrCJG employs an inverse gambler's fallacy. Gets excited about the SK. Purports that Brain is either a genius or a troll. Talks about sandwiches. Hasn't really got any reads. My surgically-repaired guts are telling me he might be scum.
18. yavuzovic: TOWN. Very active. His P.4 response to Brainbomb is sensible and town-motivated. Even though I townread Teacher2, I really like Yavuzovic's interaction with Teacher2 on Pages 5 and 7, in which he implies Teacher2 is town, and then analyses Teacher2's reaction to this. His questioning of Teacher2 when others townread him is useful and towny.
QUESTIONS FOR PEOPLE:
@DoubtingThomas: Why don't you want your vote to be decisive?
@Vecna: Your statement "time to Janitor Peterlund as promised" and then voting him makes no sense; the janitor acts at night. Who are you really going to janitor tonight?

^ Note that I wrote these up in alphabetical order and yes, I do see that Bismarck has posted more since I wrote that. My opinion on him is still a townlean.
