I am saying when he's mafia it's easier for him to simply tunnel on easy targets whereas as scum in multi or as town in a normal he has a much larger incentive to do the hard legwork to hunt scum/the other scum. But I'll try to find and look at the vt game later some time tomorrow before the Niners Packers game and see if it matches what we see here.

But he doesn't do that as town, he normally finds a read he feels passionate about (like scum!bozo or kgray/celaph scumteam) and digs into it and talks about nothing else. I feel like you're just making these arguments up?

I disagree. Look at his play in M1020. He took a wide ranging view at the game, generated full reads list and did plenty of work beyond tunneling easy targets.
