I suppose in this area of the world it’s especially worth clarifying that “military” is intended to be broader than just official uniformed armed forces and include irregulars, revolutionaries, etc.

Has anyone taken the time to check whether a previous 20Q subject came from Nigeria or Guinea or Niger or Chad or Mali or Mongrovia or South Sudan or Zambia or Tanzania or Angola or Eswatini or Somalia or the Democratic Republic of the Congo?

Re: 20 Questions Round 504
In the Google Sheets linked at the bottom of the rules, miminena has added a “Demographics” page which has a map of countries that have had a 20Q pick before. I believe all the countries mentioned have not had one.Jamiet99uk wrote: ↑Fri Mar 28, 2025 11:53 amHas anyone taken the time to check whether a previous 20Q subject came from Nigeria or Guinea or Niger or Chad or Mali or Mongrovia or South Sudan or Zambia or Tanzania or Angola or Eswatini or Somalia or the Democratic Republic of the Congo?

And to be clear, this is based on general nationality/association, not birthplace.DreamTrawler wrote: ↑Fri Mar 28, 2025 1:56 pmIn the Google Sheets linked at the bottom of the rules, miminena has added a “Demographics” page which has a map of countries that have had a 20Q pick before. Hmm… as you said, major is subjective. But from a cursory Google search - I guess I would say Yes?DarthPorg36 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 28, 2025 2:53 pmHas this person featured in a major news source in the last year? (QM discretion)

Re: 20 Questions Round 504
Correct! Pretty tragic what happened to him. And yes, I wanted to try and hit a location on the map that we haven't done for 20Q yet.
I watched a really great documentary last year called Soundtrack to a Coup d'Etat. Half of the movie is about the coup against Lumumba in the Congo, while the other half is about American jazz musicians and how they were used as pawns for soft power in the Cold War. It was really well made, highly recommend.
The news stories that popped up were either about the documentary or a false alarm that his tooth (the only remains of his that were left) was stolen from his mausoleum.
