But as an addendum - the subject was "born" but wasn't a placental mammal? Are there any ancient marsupials that people are familiar with?

I figured this might come up. I didn't want to say no to or pass the question of "born before (date)?" As the main subject of this question was clearly the date mentioned. Despite the question being scratched...
