Our subject was not alive in that decade.
Some of you are apparently thinking as if "1900s" means "The 20th Century". That is not the normal usage of the term.

Ah, the confusion stems from the fact that in the last game, the question about being alive in the 20th century ended up on the summary as being alive in the 1900s.

That question about him being alive in 1848 was pointless. We don't even know if he was alive between 1800-1848, between 1848-1899 or after 1910.

No it wasn't. I had interpreted 1900s as 1900-1999. That should be obvious from my question.
I am sure that was the intent of Bona's question. It would be ridiculous to ask a about a particular decade at this stage. Jamie is not wrong in his interpretation but he is being a tad crafty and should imo have stated said interpretation in the initial answer .

Even if we knew he wasn't alive in 1900-1999, it is bad to ask about 1848 specifically as it doesn't tell us whether he was alive in 1800-1847, 1849-1899 or 2001-2022.
