Did he serve in the military?

Re: Twenty Questions - Game 67
He was involved in politics to some degree, but this was not the domain of his activity for which he will be remembered.
Re: Twenty Questions - Game 67
Was he mainly involved in matters of the Clergy (like a theologian, monk, priest, pope or someone who would nail his thesis on a door)?

Re: Twenty Questions - Game 67
If we remove 'mainly' from the question, the answer will be 'yes'. However, he was not involved in carpentry, as suggested.

Ok so:
1. Real
2. Dead
3. A native speaker of a language other than English
4. Born in Europe
5. A man who most likely had a penis
6. Not French
7. Born before 1850.
8. Did not serve in the military.
9. Was involved in politics to some degree but this isn't the main thing he's known for.
10. Involved in religious affairs.
11. Alive after 31.12.1299.
We're looking for a religious man who was neither French nor English, and who lived in the 14th, 15th, 16th, 17th 18th, or early 19th Centuries.

Would historians today identify him as a protestant?

Re: Twenty Questions - Game 67
Hm, my first hunch was Martin Luther, but it seems I have been off there.
Nationality wise (if we can even speak of a 'nation' at that time) there were Poland, South Germany, Spain, Portugal and Italy who remained staunched catholic (however if it is before the reform the scandinavian lands might also be an option). I kinda feel like we don't get enough information from that angle (except by a correct guess).
Also, involved in political and religious affairs but it not being his main thing doesn't quite ring a bell for me. Maybe an artisan of a sort (Renaissance?) but that is still too big of a guess in my opinion. I think the best information right now would be if we close in on the date between 1300 and 1850; so it should be either 1550 or 1600, or, rather 1575 ... yes.
So I want to ask the question
"Was this man born after the 1st of January 1575?"

It's an example of an impressive analysis!Kakarroto wrote: ↑Sat Nov 12, 2022 1:36 pmHm, my first hunch was Martin Luther, but it seems I have been off there.

Re: Twenty Questions - Game 67
To be explicit, my negation of his involvement in carpentry was directly referring to Luther. But since it has only been implied by you, I'm not going to count it as a free guess.

Was he a Pope (or Antipope?)

Re: Twenty Questions - Game 67
I considered Marco Polo, but he had natural children, and therefore, by inference, definitely had a "Penistone".

Re: Twenty Questions - Game 67
Why the "but" ?
Why would having one of those rule Marco Polo out?
The answer was that our subject did have a Penistone.

You're right, ha ha.
Then fine, I guess Marco Polo.
