I fundamentally disagree with this. I call people's reads on my town slot as town suspect all the time. The wolves have all the knowledge so it is dangerous to not point out when people are reading you town when you don't see the reason behind it.President Eden wrote: ↑Tue Aug 16, 2022 1:12 amQuite the opposite. I said “if you’re town” and everything… the subtext is that you shouldn’t be the one calling somebody’s correct read on you dangerous. If you’re town, don’t you know that you aren’t acting? Why would it be dangerous for Byz to recognize that and townread you?You didn’t. But the above felt kind of like it had a subtext of knowing it as fact. It might be my imagination or me reading too far into it.
Townreading me wouldn’t be dangerous if it was correct, which he is, but the statement discounts the potential that it was a misread based on early data without the influence of voting breakdowns. And haven’t people been telling me those are the most important part of Day 1?
More to the point, why do you seem unconcerned with Byz’s or Neon’s alignment as a result of reading you town? And why is it that you only seem to develop this suspicion of me after a wagon forms? Assuming you aren’t simply mafia going with the flow, whose behavior is really influencing you here?

I spend so much time suspicious of everyone who actively interact with me outside of game that I'm not sure its real without third-party observation.President Eden wrote: ↑Tue Aug 16, 2022 1:12 amMore to the point, why do you seem unconcerned with Byz’s or Neon’s alignment as a result of reading you town? Byz I wrote off because they voted for more originally then retracted it. Which itself is kind of not logical to assume. So I'm probably wrong to assume Byz is town and that there was nothing to gain by retracting the vote for me.
Neon I have no reasonable explanation for because I have a pre-existing bias inclining me to trust people with princess in their names.

It makes me sad that I can't embed gifs here that's like half my gimmick.
This is clearly a late-2000s forum

That’s not what Rumi did, though. Rumi actually specifically called Byz’s read “reasonable but dangerous,” then proceeded to spend the rest of the post describing how he could be getting deceived by Rumi—not how he could be buddying Rumi.Princess Neon wrote: ↑Tue Aug 16, 2022 1:22 amI fundamentally disagree with this. If Rumi had expressed suspicion of Byz for getting to the right answer with relatively little data, then I’d agree with you, but that’s not what Rumi did. Rumi instead suggested that Byz might have set himself up to be fooled. That’s mafia indicative to me, particularly for newer mafia players.

I know how old it is, but it has the aesthetic and functions of mid/late 2000s Proboards or vbulletin

Can we vote for ourselves? I'm a little tempted to put myself at risk to at least show that I'm kind of sincere but just stupid?

I don't disagree about the Rumi slot, and have said as much myself.President Eden wrote: ↑Tue Aug 16, 2022 12:52 amHardly. Fifteen years of playing the game has taught me that the only remotely reliable tell for new players is that calculated aggression is townie. They come in with all kinds of preconceptions about social deduction games and psychology in general, so unpacking what they think about the game, and why they do, is helpful in the event that they don’t show calculated aggression.Byz wrote: ↑Tue Aug 16, 2022 12:44 amRIPRumi Tobari wrote: ↑Tue Aug 16, 2022 12:39 am

Eden might be one of those boring huggy huggy town players I always think is scum. Idk. Still a scum ping there though, more likely to be AI than anything else in thread.
Y’all are the ones who are reaching really hard to frame a decidedly neutral set of questions one way or the other.
