Not true. If 3 people Gamble with Worcej and 4 players Friend, there's only 3 in the Mob. But yes, it's not looking great for Mob right now.

There's the friends / mob interaction to consider. Optimize versus exploit.

If there is no leader, it doesn't need a "creation". So you can still friend people, join the mob, or join an existing double gamble coalition.Squigs44 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 16, 2018 10:03 pmThe “Friend” Coalition: There is no leader in this coalition. To join a coalition, PM the GM ##Friend [player]. If two players friend each other, they both gain 8 points. If a player gives their friendship and it is not reciprocated, they do not gain any points, and their target gains 2 points.
Re: Coalition I : The Playtest
Not so much a game theory post or a Coalition post, but... do other people have PMs routinely sitting in their outbox for 4+ hours?

DG EV=4 ?Claesar wrote: ↑Sun Dec 16, 2018 10:17 pmI presume people will expect me to like the Double Gamble, but I do not. Far too messy. Besides, the math is far different.
Double Gamble:
66% chance of 0 points
33% chance of 12 points
Expected value is 3 points
Single Gamble (from last round):
50% chance of 2 points
50% chance of 8 points
EV is 5 points
I'd like to find a friend. If no suitable courter is found, I'll join the Mob. Though I estimate it's EV at 3 points as well, it makes sense when you're in the lead. Guaranteed points are better than a lottery. Surely less than half the people will join the mob.. Especially when some people don't join any coalition![]()
Re: Coalition I : The Playtest
I'm really interested to see how it shakes out. I'm not sure what the calculations are, but everyone who thinks they have a friend is slightly more incentivized to join the mob - but so is their friend, if they're lying. Really neat scenario.
Re: Coalition I : The Playtest
I'm thinking about it, but it's less interesting now that you (and others) are in. Maybe I should gamble instead.
Re: Coalition I : The Playtest
I'm not sure they are. Sticking with your friend gives you 8 points total. Stabbing them grants you 2 for sure, but the mob seems to only award 0, 5 or 6 based on what we've seen posted. That's the same points, or worse.

What about point denial?Claesar wrote: ↑Tue Dec 18, 2018 7:53 pmI'm not sure they are. Sticking with your friend gives you 8 points total. Stabbing them grants you 2 for sure, but the mob seems to only award 0, 5 or 6 based on what we've seen posted. That's the same points, or worse.
Re: Coalition I : The Playtest
Oh, rats, I thought the Mob was 24/n. Apparently it's 18/n, which means I need to amend the previous post to "Mob grants 0, 4 or 5 points". So staying with your friend is strictly better.
Re: Coalition I : The Playtest
Point denial seems pretty useless in Round2. I mean, maaaybe if your friend is Ike or me. But even then, focus on your own points until you know who your enemy is. As we say in the Netherlands, the first pancakes are for the children.foodcoats wrote: ↑Tue Dec 18, 2018 7:54 pmWhat about point denial?

Hopefully the one who is making my pancakes realizes that I am a child.Claesar wrote: ↑Tue Dec 18, 2018 8:02 pmPoint denial seems pretty useless in Round2.
