Re: M 1029: The webMafia Olympics game 1 SPY VS SPY
It could be 3-3-2 I guess but I find that hard to believe. It would mean everyone recruited correctly and spirit claimed for little reason if they were tiedHamilton Brian wrote: ↑Wed Jul 31, 2024 7:05 pmIs this the math we're facing?
8 of us. Suppose the 2 OGs are still alive but one spy team is down 1. Either Spirit lied about the recruit attempt OR they were honest.
5:2:2
4:3:1?
or 3:3:2?
At the end of the day it doesn't help with the solving. I think we've got to make a declaration of who we town and who we scum
You know, Haze, I think you coming up with that coloured reads list when brain asked you for one is pure BS. You're either mafia and brain isn't, or you are and brain has coached you so you're both guilty.
Re: M 1029: The webMafia Olympics game 1 SPY VS SPY
I agree with your list and would argue that you and bozo would be a bit higher. Ghug feels like a near guaranteed recruit which should not be the focus now. Otherwise I think OG is one of Brain (not as confident), bozo, yoyo. HB I think you could be a recruit on brains teamHamilton Brian wrote: ↑Wed Jul 31, 2024 6:59 pmMaking a quick read of what I missed last night but:
The suggestion to vote elsewhere besides Spirit reads to me like an attempt to save and throwing that shade to somewhere else, be it brain or bozo. Still reading. I think it is somewhat likely that either brain or bozo are OG or recruited. Both Haze and Colby had some suspect expressions during that EOD.
I wonder if ghug did get recruited, and recruited to Spirit's squad hence the dismal feelings expressed. Just theorizing here.
I can't help but look at the Brain:Haze interactions from D2 as a level of coaching.
Yoyo said:
"What? If your gut is that spirit is an OG, he say he tried to recruit bb and failed, so why would he sacrifice himself like that if bozo was also a spy that was attempted to to be recruited and failed? Wouldn’t Spirit know this and know that the teams are even so there would be no need to die."
Spirit tries to recruit; either Brain was OG, recruited already, or being recruited by two. Town would not know they were being recruited. Spy would know and know who attempted it.
So Spirit was in a state of desperation? Speaks to that team losing whatever parity they had OR they were going to lose it because Spirit was going to die anyway so... Hmm, still working through that motivation in my head.
I think there's a level of badness here that' s been staring us for the past couple of days. It's not bad that the night has been somewhat quiet but my massive case of distrust grows for Haze, Colby, brain, and yoyo. Bozo is in that mix somewhat and I think it's in that exchange of D2 votes.

##GM##
GAME HAS ENDED
Score-keeping in the Spy Game is difficult. Often a ‘side’ appeared to lose ground, but it was actually a part of the Intelligence Agencies’ plans. No one really knew what the other team was actually trying to do.
By the end of the Cold War, it was clear to most Agencies that the West had ‘won.’ They had pumped substantially more resources into the Cold War, and it paid off. During the Olympic Game aspect of the Cold War, it was clear that the LOSER was the Athletic Community. Sometimes the Olympics were tainted by the things the Intelligence committee did. And of course, resources that could have gone towards developing community, healthy competition, and fun, instead went toward Spying. Toward the end of the Cold War, the West was overwhelmingly spending more than the Other Side. The Other Side had basically given up the field.
In OUR game, town lost. They were unable to detect and destroy either Spy Team.
The Spy Teams started out equal, but in the end the Purple team got ahead, and it steamrolled. The Green team was unable to NK, and were in the light in the thread.
The GAME Has Ended.
Spy Team Purple (A Mafia Group) Has Won.
The team members at the end were: brainbomb, (the original spy); bonatogether, bozotheclown, and most recently Haze with a Z.
Spy Team Green (A Mafia Group) Has Lost.
The original Spy was SpiritoftheRadio.
Recruited was ghug.
ghug died. He was a Mafia Spy.
The remaining town perished.
Col7by has died. He was town.
Hamilton Brian has died. He was town.
Yoyoyozo has died. He was town.
Thank you for playing!

Re: M 1029: The webMafia Olympics game 1 SPY VS SPY
GM NOTES post game.
I hope the puzzle was fun. I realize, of course, that town had a harder job than the scum team(s) as a whole.
My intention was to forge a game that APPEARED to be mech. But was actually not. In other words, It was a game that looked like mech, but no mech actually existed to help (or hinder) solving. It was all about ‘reading’ people.
The recruiting of the spy teams was really intended to just be a ticking clock. Each day moving the room closer to the End.
(Among the many alterations that should be considered if this setup happens again are that the group should have been bigger. This should not have been a mini game.)
HOW we hunt scum in our community is varied. Some use mechs, and cannot see that anything else works. Some use meta, and cannot see that much else is worthwhile. Some use gut feelings, reading people IN the game (regardless of mech) to determine role.
This setup was intended to provide an opportunity for the third group to thrive.
While it appeared to be heavily mech, it actually was not. Players were required to attempt to read their roommates purely on what they wrote. The text, if you will, without any connections, relationships, or mechanical information.
NK was a red herring. Or a "Fleet in Being." It didn't need to be used. Recruiting was always the right choice. (Almost).
Killing improves your team's stats by one. Recruiting takes YOU Up, and someone Else Down. I had to add a NK to incentivize Recruiting. Otherwise, teams might just sit tight.
I did not feel I could explain any of that before the game. It would have altered everyone’s play.
SO… for those who do not like recruitment games, I understand. But to me this was not really a recruiting game. It was a reading game.
For those who prefer mechanics, I respect you. I am sure more future games will HAVE mech than not.
I appreciate all of your efforts swimming in a strange pool.

Gg everyone!
I have some questions but I’ll ask them outside of here so they get heard. Kinda surprised brain really was og but I feel satisfied finding that entire team even if brain stopped talking to me smh.

You're fucked once you recruit wrong, and then Spirit claiming didn't work. Brain had already concluded I was his teammate so I really had nothing to do but throw shit at the wall.

GG!
I advocated for a kill d1, and in a way, that's what I got.
I like the concept of all reads and no mech. It didn't seem to work like that between the multiball and the conversions, but we probably spent a lot more time talking about those than necessary.
