On December 7th, 43 BC(E), being put on a Proscription due to Antony, and condoned by Caesar, adopted son of Caesar, a small group lead by a military tribune and a centurion, showed up at Cacero's villa. The doors were locked, but they busted in. After interrogating some workers, they learned that Cacero was on his way to the sea. They caught up with him on the road.

Cacero knew that he was caught. He told his entourage to stop. The pursuers found him reading, in a reclined position.

"I'm stopping here. he said.

Then he turns to the lead centurion.

"Come here soldier. There's nothing proper about what you're doing, but at least make sure you cut off my head properly."

Cacero then stucks out his neck and indicates what he wants to be done ...

-----

Years later, when Caesar, adopted son of Caesar, was an old man, he caught his grand son reading something that Cacero was written. His grandson has some vague notion that this was some old enemy of his grandfather, so, in a panic, he tried to hide the writing under his clothes.

Caesar, adopted son of Caesar, saw what he was trying to do and had him handed over. For a long time he stood there, reading the words of Cacero, written in another era.

In time, he handed the writing back to his grandson, saying: "My child, this was a learned man, and a lover of his country."

MESSALA
Myself have letters of the selfsame tenour.

MARCUS BRUTUS
With what addition?

MESSALA
That by proscription and bills of outlawry,
Octavius, Antony, and Lepidus,
Have put to death an hundred senators.

MARCUS BRUTUS
Therein our letters do not well agree;
Mine speak of seventy senators that died
By their proscriptions, Cicero being one.

CASSIUS
Cicero one!

Kakarroto has DIED. He was Cicero, the Roman Senator

%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%

OCTAVIUS CAESAR
What man is that?

MESSALA
My master's man.—Strato, where is thy master?

STRATO
Free from the bondage you are in, Messala:
The conquerors can but make a fire of him;
For Brutus only overcame himself,
And no man else hath honour by his death.

LUCILIUS
So Brutus should be found.—I thank thee, Brutus
That thou hast proved Lucilius' saying true.

OCTAVIUS CAESAR
All that served Brutus, I will entertain them.—
Fellow, wilt thou bestow thy time with me?

STRATO
Ay, if Messala will prefer me to you.

OCTAVIUS CAESAR
Do so, good Messala.

MESSALA
How died my master, Strato?

STRATO
I held the sword, and he did run on it.

MESSALA
Octavius, then take him to follow thee,
That did the latest service to my master.

MARCUS ANTONIUS
This was the noblest Roman of them all:
All the conspirators save only he
Did that they did in envy of great Caesar;
He only, in a general honest thought
And common good to all, made one of them.
His life was gentle, and the elements
So mixt in him that Nature might stand up
And say to all the world 'This was a man!'

OCTAVIUS CAESAR
According to his virtue let us use him,
With all respect and rites of burial.
Within my tent his bones to-night shall lie,
Most like a soldier, order'd honourably.
So call the field to rest; and let's away,
To part the glories of this happy day.

So close, yet so far away.

Fifteen minutes earlier, and we would've rewritten the history of Rome.

it was nice and well handled from the GM side

of course I loved the flavour, and if by coincidence or sheer luck, it ended pretty much historically. Well, some died a bit earlier than in history, but that is kinda to be expected in a mafia game.

Yeah, it's funny that we got Caesar but not Antony. And you were Cicero after all.

It was fun! First two days I really wasn't sure how to proceed but from the end of Night 2 onwards I really tried to lock in and figure it out. I liked that it was light on mechanics other than the masons, which ended up being helpful. Wish I didn't fumble at the very last moment lol

So in the end - were you not worried about how it would look to me for you to deny it was Bunny-Kak? That would have been a very useful out for you.

Enter Cinna the poet and after him the Plebeians.
THIRD PLEBEIAN Your name, sir, truly.
CINNA Truly, my name is Cinna.
FIRST PLEBEIAN Tear him to pieces! He’s a conspirator.
CINNA I am Cinna the poet, I am Cinna the poet!
FOURTH PLEBEIAN Tear him for his bad verses, tear him
for his bad verses!
CINNA I am not Cinna the conspirator.
FOURTH PLEBEIAN It is no matter. His name’s Cinna.
Pluck but his name out of his heart, and turn him
going.
THIRD PLEBEIAN Tear him, tear him! Come, brands, ho,
firebrands! To Brutus’, to Cassius’, burn all! Some
to Decius’ house, and some to Casca’s, some to
Ligarius’. Away, go!
All the Plebeians exit, carrying off Cinna. Cinna the Conspirator pulls down his hood.
CINNA THE CONSPIRATOR This is a foul omen for Rome, when another dies for my actions but yet I remain free. I go now to hide, that the people might not find me, might not end me as they will him.
Cinna exits.
Pronouns: he/him
