Re: Twenty Questions game 79
The only profession I can think of that is closely related to music, but not itself a composer, instrument player or vocalist would be a conductor.
I googled for some eastern-European or Russian conductors that died in the west and came up with George Szell, Eugene Ormandy and Sergei Rachmaninoff but none has a connection to painters/painting I can find. Ormandy also played the violin and Rachmaninoff is surely better known as a composer than as a conductor.
The search continues.....

Re: Twenty Questions game 79
What if it's some kind of patron of the arts? Some rich person who sponsors musicians and artists but is not a musician or artist themselves?
Potato, potato; potato.

Remember, he was a musician! A painter or a musician who was not a painter must therefore have been a musician.Jamiet99uk wrote: ↑Sun Jan 01, 2023 1:22 pmWhat if it's some kind of patron of the arts? Some rich person who sponsors musicians and artists but is not a musician or artist themselves?

Yeah, I started going down that route, but not finding much in the way of a Russian/Eastern European connection

Associated with music. He doesn't play an instrument and he's not a vocalist, and he is not primarily a composer.JECE wrote: ↑Sun Jan 01, 2023 1:40 pmRemember, he was a musician! Re: Twenty Questions game 79
Born before 1930 seems to make that unlikely...

Your free info added:
"Did not live entirely within the 20th century."
But it would be possible for someone born before 1930 to have lived into the 21st century.
So "born before Jan 1900" is still new information, just confirming that the "non 20th century" part of the person's life was in the 19th century.

Re: Twenty Questions game 79
Anyway the only "Jack Harper" I can find who is involved in music, is a singer and piano player, so I don't know what that was meant to refer to at all, Damo.

It was a joke. Jack Harper was a character in the sitcom On The Buses. He was, of course, a bus conductor.Jamiet99uk wrote: ↑Sun Jan 01, 2023 2:30 pmAnyway the only "Jack Harper" I can find who is involved in music, is a singer and piano player, so I don't know what that was meant to refer to at all, Damo.
Re: Twenty Questions game 79
I am ready to give up, but I won't deny others the last three guesses, I suppose
Re: Twenty Questions game 79
I think we have stumbled upon a problem with the structure.
I doubt there are three wrong guesses that fit all the criteria so we could go on forever.
I HEREBY GIVE A 24 HOUR LIMIT FOR GUESSES.
The game will therefore finish the earliest of the following:
i) correct guess
ii) three more incorrect guesses
iii) 14:45 GMT 2nd January 2023
