You are correct! The guy who (incorrectly) calculated Jesus's birth year and is therefore the reason why we now say that it's 2025 or whatever year. When I started this game I wasn't sure how I would categorize his source of fame, but "mathematics" is spot-on. I am curious as to how you figured this one out.

Brute force. With period narrowed down there are very few births per year (sometimes none) and mostly Chinese so it's not that laborious. Although he is not described as a mathematician per se I was pretty confident I'd found the culprit.

This is the disadvantage of picking someone early medieval or earlier. I might be giving you a clue as to the next round.....
