Oh, I screwed up. I had no idea Orwell was born in India.

The correct answer was Snowball.

What happens now?
It’s all good mistakes happen. I think in the future if something like that happens, whoever the QM is can just say that they need to revise a prior answer and maybe offer folks who have made free guesses on incorrect information a refund.

Now that the answer has been already stated, I think the game probably has to end and I would propose offering a chance to be QM to a player who either hasn’t ever gotten a chance or who maybe someone who only rarely gets the chance.

Props for being a good sport about it, at least. I've been lurking for ~30 games and they keep getting to a point I'm stunned by the guesses.

Do you feel like the picks are obscure, or just that people can guess it with relatively little info?

The second one. The picks haven't been unfair in any way, but seeing the paths people take to finding an answer is impressive.

a big part of why that is imo is that 20q tends to have a rather tight community, and after a bit you start to get something of a feel for the sort of picks other people make, whether consciously or subconsciously

I suggest letting our peachy keen friend take a stab at running a round.

Perhaps. I just felt it was going back 10 questions so may have changed the whole course of questioning.

I endorse your solution.

My apologies everyone.

You know, on one hand this is very true, but on the other hand I couldn't concretely say what each QM's "type" of subject is. I know my own style, and I know you for example have picked multiple subjects related to say, jazz music or chess, but I still wouldn't be able to more generally say what kind of picks you make.

Now I kind of want to go through the Google Sheet and see if I can identify any trends in people's picks.

one that i've noticed and has secured me a few wins is that damo likes to choose entities relevant to the game number

I'll find a guess and have the new round up within a few hours!

What you can do in that case is give people a few extra questions, or maybe don't count any questions following that that related to the author's birthplace.
