I went down this line of searching as well, but is he really a physicist?

My other thought is that it's someone with a connection to Halley's comet, but I can't find anyone who fits.

There could also be a birthplace trap here.

No.

(I wouldn't have classified him as a physicist)

One question still remains.

Who can think of a good one?

I am definitely thinking birthplace trap. I tried to find an American scientist born on Okinawa (which was formally controlled by the US during the birth period in question), but couldn't.

But also: why is damo telling us that he is not on the Wikipedia list of physicists?

Because I'm kind. Physics would not be his primary source of fame nor indeed his main discipline.

Yeah, this has to be it. I didn’t have time to get on wiki recently but it fits everything.

The Hale-Bopp comet had occurred to me a while before; I don't know what took me so long to actually look up their birthplaces. Next round up.
