For the record, so people don't overthink my hint any more, this is what I was being literal about. The character is a fairy, and therefore by definition is "from a fairy tale".

Yay! I was puzzling over the passes and realized it must be a character with varied interpretations. Which Disney/Dreamworks movie did the Tooth Fairy appear in?

Next thread will be up tomorrow.

There were a few borderline cases, but the clear-cut one I found was Rise of the Guardians (a 2012 DreamWorks animated movie that also includes Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny among other characters). The Tooth Fairy also inexplicably has a blank page on the Shrek the Musical Wiki, but it seems the entire wiki is blank?

Regarding the gender question, this is from Wikipedia:
A 1984 study conducted by Rosemary Wells revealed that most, 74 percent of those surveyed, believed the Tooth Fairy to be female, while 12 percent believed the Tooth Fairy to be neither male nor female, and 8 percent believed the Tooth Fairy could be either male or female.[5] When asked about her findings regarding the Tooth Fairy's appearance, Wells explained: "You've got your basic Tinkerbell-type Tooth Fairy with the wings, wand, a little older and whatnot. Then you have some people who think of the tooth fairy as a man, a bunny rabbit, or a mouse."[6]
