3. Semi-legendary figure whose existence is a matter of doubt
8. Either from the Book of Mormon (or other Mormon stuff), or from Mesoamerica, or a hypothesized serial killer
9. Either the subject of Native American mythology, or considered a humanoid
10. Not revered as a deity or holy figure (unclear whether this is referring specifically to the present day, or all of history)
4,6. No written accounts from before 1500; first written accounts were in English or a Romance language
5,7. Generally said to have lived in North America (not the mainland of Europe)
1. Not a real human who was born or died in Africa or Asia, or a fictional character who originated on a TV show
2. Has a strong connection to crime, politics, or warfare
Passed: real human, human
NOT: Hiawatha (DreamTrawler), Boston Strangler (damo666)

We knew at that point that the "pass" was at least partly because of the "real" portion, because we already knew that this was a semi-legendary figure whose existence is in doubt. However, it is useful to now have the pass on "human" as well.Wattsthematter wrote: ↑Wed Aug 21, 2024 2:14 pmI wonder if the "real" portion of this question was passed
Re: Twenty Questions, Game 373
Is this character from Mesoamerica (using the same definition you were using the last time it was brought up)?

Isn't this similar to JECE's question about Mesoamerican mythology? Or are you trying to cover the modern societies in that area too

Whoops, I forgot about JECE's question. Scratch.DreamTrawler wrote: ↑Wed Aug 21, 2024 4:32 pmIsn't this similar to JECE's question about Mesoamerican mythology? Or are you trying to cover the modern societies in that area too

And conveniently enough, La Llorona earns a pass on all three of “real”, “human”, and “living”.

Great round! I enjoy the folkloric picks. Had no idea La Llorona had pre-Spanish origins.

Re: Twenty Questions, Game 373
For the record- I would have passed on a pure origins question, but the ones I did answer both came paired with an additional condition that La Llorona satisfied (humanoid; hypothesized serial killer)
