We're on the 5 free guesses now? I'll guess Padraig Pearse.

I guess I'll go with James Connolly if we're doing this.

I will go ahead and make a final guess of Patrick Pearse.
Correct.

Main architect of the Proclamation and the chosen 'President' and gave the order to surrender.

Some of the questions were difficult to answer and I nearly Passed but giving explanations would be too much of a giveaway and I dislike a lot of Passed questions.

Whoop, seconds late to the punch. I can't complain, I wouldn't have had any clue without Hominidae decoding the hint. Congrats Spartaculous! I think my "head of state/govt during a world war" question really lead us astray.

My hat is off to damo for being the QM in such a good round. It has been a while since I have learned so much playing a round as I investigated the history of all of the smaller European countries that came into and out of existence around that time. Thank you!

If it's a "no", I want to say it could be someone from Ireland (country code 353) but Ireland wasn't an independent country at all during World War I, unless you count the proclaimed Irish Republic in 1916.
Yep, I had figured out the country code about the same time.

Great round! I don't think I've made this many incorrect guesses in one round before. Well done, Spartaculous.
