I thought it was anti German, the continuation sometimes being to attack Munich with Burgundy's support

Ironically, I just discovered the bots and working my way through the powers to win with each. I just started with Austria, but this last game, I was attacked by Italy, Russia, Turkey AND GERMANY! in Spring 1901. In fact, the thing that saved my bacon was that Germany and Italy were fighting each other over Tyrolia, a key position for Austria-killing. I have to say, that made for some long odds. Apparently, it was some kind of Wester Triple, which France would have won having stabbed a completely empty Germany and England, which Germany reacted to by.... disbanding all its units in Germany while keeping Serbia, Galicia and Tyrolia. Hmm. That was, shall we say, an unusual game.

Just won as Austria, my first time ever winning against bots:

To be fair though, the bot playing Italy made some stupid decisions. After a successful Lepanto, it tried over and over again to take Sevastopol (despite this being clearly impossible) while I gobbled up the rest of the Turkish SCs and then moved on to the Italian mainland.

Why did you attack both Russia and Turkey while they were already fighting each other and you were under attack from Germany?

Don't bring it up. They don't want feedback on the bots. All is well. All is well.

I think the more realistic question is, "Where is Germany's blood lust for Austria coming from?" . . . Sorry, I ended it on a preposition . . . "From where does Germany's blood lust for Austria originate?"

I went back through my bot games and I've won twice as Austria. Both times coming on the back of an Italian Lepanto.

Interesting. The only time I won was with no Lepanto. By the time I got Constantinople in 1906, Germany was in Vienna. It then took ten years of beating Germany in stalemate lines he could have held and a last turn Italian stab to finally win in 1917.

Here is a game I won when Italy went full out against me from day one. This took a lot of patience.

https://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=329455

7 different turns, Italy attacked Trieste with three units, and another 4 turns they attacked with 4 units. I'm surprised I survived the start. After that, every time I reloaded the page, I had that brief moment of worry that Turkey would stab me, since that would mean game over. They did annoyingly prevent me from ever getting to Moscow or St Petersburg, but other than that, they stayed loyal to the end. It still took 18 years to win though. I didn't even get a sixth sc until 1908.

First (and only) time I played as Austria with bots, I won with a crushing 20 centers solo. I didn't even realize it was so difficult to do!

It's harder against bots than in real games because all the bots are convinced that they should get Austria's centers. 90% of the time, Russia moves to Galicia, Italy stabs in the first two years, and Turkey goes for your scs first chance they get.

And how exactly is that different from going up against human players? ;)

I guess I was lucky the Italian bot decided to ally Austria (so to speak) and go for a Lepanto then. And Turkey opened to Armenia!

A very interesting game!

I haven't been able to have a good game yet as Austria when Italy attacks right off the bat like that, my efforts to ally R or A usually seem to fall on deaf ears... I think that the German move to Silesia in Spring '03 really helped - while you didn't benefit directly, that let T get the upper hand on R... and then watching T build fleet after fleet after that to get the was kind of fun.
