Edi Brisan wins Whipping for the 2nd year in a row

Edi wins Whipping XI, held in San Jose Califormia over the weekend. You may know some of the other people who won awards:

I had the privilege of playing against Edi in that recent PlayDip Elite tournament. He had an amazing ability to see different non-obvious moves and tactics. Unfortunately for him he lost (I made the draw!) but it was a great experience nonetheless.

What was Edi's name on PlayDip?

It was "Anon-Mouse" in the game I played against him. I played as "vegn" in that tournament.

It was an excellent tournament, and I can't complain because there is 0 doubt in my mind that Goffy and Edi are leagues ahead of me. Very few things as fun as gathering with friends and playing Diplomacy.

There was that great story in Richard Sharp book about postal diplomacy match where some guy was thinking Edi is girl. Edi of course encouraged him to think he is pretty blond woman by sending him the photo of himself with young blond woman signed "me with a friend".

That was enough for that poor guy to commit all his units to support Edi in the game. I can only imagine what he felt when Edi told him he is not that blond chick (after he did not need his support in the game) and could not date him because for one, they are both male.

Well if this was not the best diplomacy scheme ever, I do not know what it.

Edi also plays occasionally in Europe, I met him at some tournaments there. Great person, great player. And he of course has his own space on the board.
