Playing ancient med but with thanks and modern battleships

I'm doing a game of ancient med but cannot stand the fact that I'm moving modern era tanks and battleships. I found an image online (see attachment) where people play with ancient battleships and armies. Is this somehow possible also on webdip?
Many thanks in advance!

I am also in the middle of an Ancient Mediterranean game, and I have the same issue. I have not heard of any way to fix it. If there is a way to fix it on WebDiplomacy I don't know what it is. WebDiplomacy, to my knowledge, has never had a customizable option like this. The only customizability, in fact, is the colorblind map settings.

Bear in mind that the classic game starts in 1901 when there were no tanks that resemble anything like the "army" icon in webDiplomacy.
Just remember that this is an abstract game and not a technically detailed simulation, relax, and continue to go about your lives.

Surely there's some balance with respect to aesthetics.
Diplomacy could be played entirely by text, without a map, with reference only to a table of adjacencies. That would be less fun.
Backstabrr has circles and triangles instead of lil' army and navy units. It's visually clear, but less fun.
My favourite board game of all time is War of the Ring (Ares Games). The various pieces (hobbits, orcs, etc.) are certainly part of the appeal. I've considered buying 3D printed mountains and fortresses to further improve the aesthetic.

For this reason I prefer the rectangular wooden armies and fleets in some editions of the board game, and the star and anchor symbols used in the webDip UI that's now used for Classic, to the "realistic" armies and fleets used in the legacy board and in variants. Obviously I would love to see the new UI applied to variants, but I know that's a big project that would take a long time to implement.
OP, if you really want to play with those logos, you can go to vdiplomacy.com.

I've heard good things about the War of the Ring. As a fan of Tolkien's writings, I've wanted to play it for a while now, but never have.

Thanks for all the replies. Good point about the tanks, also not accurate in 1900. However this seems to be accounted for by the anchor and star symbols on the classic mode here on webdip. The tanks and gunboats in ancient times are silly, but I'll manage for a game I guess. Vdip I will checkout. Thanks again!
