Nice Quote

#1 Post by CaptainFritz28 » Sat Aug 24, 2024 1:58 am

How long has that been there? My sense of awareness entering this site has been limited in recent days due to university orientation taking up most of my attention.

Regardless of the time, I think Diplomacy lends itself well to historical quotes, and I like it.

I think the bots vote on the choice of a good quote.

I think it replaced the disk failure downtime notification during the week.

I always thought this was a rather Diplomacy-esque quote:

“Are you blind to your own interests – have you ceased to reign? (...) If Russia has an army of 15,000 men at Corfu, do you think that it is directed against me? Armed vessels have the habit of hastening to Constantinople. Your dynasty is about to descend into oblivion... Trust only your true friend, France.”
— Letter from Napoleon to Selim III.

A quick google search of "diplomacy quotes" leads me to:
Diplomacy is the art of saying 'Nice doggie' until you can find a rock.-will rogers

God has perfect knowledge. That would be a huge advantage over other players, so if he did, you would have probably heard of it already, assuming that Atheists haven't managed to censor the reports thereof.

TBC: I was attempting to erase the "webDiplomacy Site Down" notification, which seemed out of date. I could find no way to 'erase' or 'delete' it, so I quoted the quote in a quotey way. I hope to periodically update it.

Using the tried and true method for finding quotes of searching 'Terry Pratchett quotes about X' I came up with this:

"So this is diplomacy. It's lying, only for a better class of people."

God is not playing diplomacy. God has omnipotent powers, so he cannot lose, so being just and right, he doesn't play, so there is no to wrong the other players.
