In fairness the last ten minutes or so with the balloon was pretty good, and the light show on the tower was decent enough if you like that sort of thing.

The rest of it was dire

I thought this thread was about the arson attacks implying someone was getting fired for not catching them. Instead it seems you thought the ceremony was terrible and I dont know that anyone under the age of 70 would agree with you.

I've yet to meet anyone of any age who didn't find it a bit of a joke 😛.

No idea what they're expected to do about the arson attacks. There's far too much railway to police it all. The people who carried out the attacks clearly weren't railway experts otherwise they'd be aware of how easy it is to bring trains to a halt without having to arse about with all that fancy stuff
