Re: Myth
My favourite local myth is of Dead Man's Acre. On the local common is a square fenced off plot of land that looks extremely out of place in the common. The story goes that an offer was made to the common folk that anyone who could enclose an acre or more of land in a single day would be recognised as its owner forever more. No one dared to attempt it, but one man. The strongest man in the five valleys. He laboured non stop from midnight to midnight, finally finishing just before the time ran out. The land was his, but he had given so much he died from exhaustion there and then. To this day his ghost haunts the square of land on the common.

Re: Myth
There is a Russian folklore tale with a similar theme.Octavious wrote: ↑Mon Mar 02, 2020 12:01 amMy favourite local myth is of Dead Man's Acre.
