People that set multiple alarm clocks
My roommate sets an alarm clock for every minute.
I’ll wake him up and tell him to turn it off and wake up (he wakes up an hour before I do; mind you) right when I get back in bed and close my eyes, the damn alarm clock starts going off again. It’s the most infuriating thing ever and I’m thinking I’ll start silencing their phone/turning it off.
Any insights?

Have you tried talking to your roommate about this? Or are you shacking with Kestasbot?

It is not easy for all people to wake up, especially if it is early in the morning. Keeping that in mind you must talk to him and find common ground and a solution.
Re: People that set multiple alarm clocks
Is this a relationship you want to maintain? Because if not, you should find something with a lot more flair than just turning off his ringer. He'll think you're an asshole for that, but if one day you just start beating him with a dead fish screaming MOMMY NEEDS HER BEAUTY SLEEP, well... the relationship is still over, but you'll live on in his memory forever as a legend.

I will say, I do the exact same thing and it might be something deeper than what you can see. Maybe talk to them and see why it takes so many? For me when I go to bed I want to make myself get up and do things and be productive, but as soon as morning rolls around I have 0 motivation to get up. It just doesn't feel like those things or anything really is worth doing anymore and I'd rather not be awake. If you get a dumb answer then proceed with the fish by all means

Re: People that set multiple alarm clocks
Is there any specific reason why you need to wake up an hour later (e.g. you work night shift)? If not, why not wake up the same time as him?
Alternatively, the latest smartwatches (like Fitbits) have silent alarm function with snooze. If he doesn't have one perhaps on his next birthday gift him one and remark on how wonderful the silent alarm function is for not disturbing people that have different schedules (hint, hint).
Alternatively you have something like the "sonic bomb" alarm which shakes the bed and can work without sound and it is only $33 on Amazon:

Re: People that set multiple alarm clocks
I set 4-5 that are spaced out 15 minutes apart starting an hour before I actually need to be up, because I know myself enough to know I'm not getting up on time.
Ironically I post this having woken up a full 6 hours early today.
Also, I live alone, and would never subject someone else to this brand of insanity without at least making sure that we had separate rooms, this someone else wanted to get up when I did, or this someone else was just gonna deal with it and be fine lol. Tell him to turn the damn alarm down

Re: People that set multiple alarm clocks
My son is one of those people that seem unable to wake up on his own. We tried the Atomic bomb alarm, he slept through it. We tried the 'Dad wakes him up multiple times' to no avail. I told him that if he wanted me to be his personal alarm, I was willing to do it, but only on my terms. The next time the Atomic alarm was ignored, I dumped a pitcher of ice water on him. Needless to say he was spitting mad. After the second time this happened he started turning off his alarm and getting up on his own.

Well, this last one with the water is working! I did it back in my national duty days to wake up my replacement in a duty station.

Re: People that set multiple alarm clocks
A lot of people use alarms like this because we're heavy sleepers. If I have to be up no later than 5 (which my normal thing) I set alarms starting at 4:30 and there's about 10 of them that go off like every minute or two, with the phone on the other side of the room.
And if he's like me, the alarm has to be super loud or it won't do anything.
Otherwise, I will:
1. Turn the alarms off in my sleep
2. Not wake up
3. Dream that I have woken up and gotten ready for work and such (this happens and it's freaky AF)
So... he might just not have any other option than to do so.

Dreaming of getting ready is the weirdest damn feeling. You’ll wake up 15 minutes late and wonder what spectral being thought it’d be funny to ruin your morning like that.
