Account sitting
Account sitting
6. You may not access another player's account without permission
In general, account sitting (getting someone you trust to log on as you and issue orders when you are unable to) is encouraged. However, you must not get a sitter or sit for somebody you share games with. Also, anything done by the sitter whilst on your account is your responsibility, so make sure you're happy with that before you give them your password.
It is also your responsibility to change your password after allowing someone to use your account.
This is what rulepage says about account sitting. But it doesn't say anything about if account sitter changes our password and steals our account. Is it our responsibility, or do mods help us if that happens?

Re: Account sitting
Good thanks bo. And true Szpoti but who can you trust well, I don't know everyone really good. Now I can declare that I am looking for a sitter. I will go at Thursday or Friday and won't be here for about a week. If I can't find anybody that's not problem because I can request for a pause and even if it can happen, I can resign from games.
I have two game:
• Classic - gunboat
• Modern - Full press
They aren't anonymous so that won't be a problem.
Of course I will prefer the people I trust if more than one person are willing for it.

Re: Account sitting
To be honest, I've always understood this rule as sitting for somebody you know in RL, preferably family or close friends. I would advise requesting a pause.
Re: Account sitting
Yeah that's what I will likely do but a pause for an entire week is too long and other player will not like this. There are a few players I can trust but I don't have someone irl can play diplomacy. And I don't really look for a good player - I'm not a good player too tbh
Anyway, a pause is the most likely select. Thanks for the care anyway.

Don't... trust... anyone...
Other than me, bo, szpoti, ghug, brain, jamie, durga, princewilliam, and yavuzovic.
Well...ONE of those is probably trustworthy.

Re: Account sitting
In case anyone is wondering, the reason we have the "someone you trust" is because a few years back we had someone sit for another member, keep the account "logged in" on their phone for a full year, and then waited until the person they sat for was in a game with a stalemate line setup and then entered orders to mess up the stalemate line and give someone a win they didn't earn. It took us weeks to sort that out, and it's just easier for everyone involved if I don't have to add another dent to the ban-hammer.
Though that login loophole has been corrected so changing your password after retaking ownership of the account now works as intended.

Re: Account sitting
Yes but who I mean is someone different.
And thanks, I've found someone to help me. Someone I trust.
