Notifications
I think it would be truly awesome if there were an option to have the system notify you a specified amount of time before a turn is about to take place. Usually the only reason why I miss a turn is because I was busy and forgot that I had a game(s) going. Thoughts?
Re: Notifications
If you forget that you are playing diplomacy game at all notification will not help you that much.
Re: Notifications
Plenty of cases where a reminder could make the difference, including not realizing that everyone had readied up and the game processed early, or when you're playing multiple games simultaneously and might overlook a deadline, or if everyone readies up and the game processes early, or whatever.

Re: Notifications
During tournaments, someone (usually a mod) notifies those who might have forgotten. I am not sure what it would take to add this as a feature. I will forward the question, it seems like a good one.
Re: Notifications
Isn't it automatic to have a notification pop up at the top of the screen wiht !!!'s to say you haven't entered anything in for a turn? Are tourneys differnet, or do you just want something that'll email you every time a new turn happens, or like if it's 24 hours or whtever until the next deadline when you haven't input a move?
Re: Notifications
We don't really have the capacity to send that much email, even before the issue of putting in the development time.
Re: Notifications
Another option could be to use web notifications, which I believe on mobile (at least Android if I understand correctly) will be put into your phone notification list even if the browser is closed. These thus could be accompanied by sounds/vibration etc.
Re: Notifications
Each time the main page is refreshed the notification timers could be updated (as you have the next move times for all games at this time). This of course won't catch all scenarios (e.g. you haven't come back to the main page in a while and there was a pause) but I believe that may be good enough for most scenarios. Of course given the current code base, I don't know how hard/easy that would be to build.

Re: Notifications
After using this site for 2 days I wanted notifications too! I made a bot where you input some of your game and player information and it will send text alerts at time intervals you pick to players that still need to submit moves.
You can download it here and I think it should just work if you run the .exe file! You might have to have python downloaded though. Not sure.

Full disclosure, I'm not a professional programmer or anything and this is my first time making a bot/program like this so there may be bugs/glitches abound, but I've been trialing it for a few weeks now and it seems to work well enough! (At least for the game I'm in). The only main downside is it has to be open and running on your computer all the time. Should you choose to use it and have any trouble or bugs let me know and I can do my best to fix them!

Hey Bryandrewilson,
Thanks for posting this, I've removed the link for now since having people download un-checked exe's is a great way to get viruses. If you're willing to make your code available for people to see on github or something we'd be happy to let you post it!
Thanks,
