And you can now see your win/draw percentage for Variants split off from classic games on your profile. Which should make discussions between 1v1'ers more entertaining. Does anyone have xorxes's 81% win % through over 200 games beat?

Jmo, you're awesome, but these changes now reveal how bad I truly aim at classic. Can we go back to letting 1v1 stats obfuscate win percentages?

Awesome! Any chance of putting gunboat into the variant section? Or it's own section?jmo1121109 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 21, 2019 1:03 amAnd you can now see your win/draw percentage for Variants split off from classic games on your profile. The problem is space. If there was room for it, ranked and unranked should be split as should all 3 press types. Eventually I'll make another page for detailed stat breakdowns. But for now this was the best way to break up the percentages I could think of in the 5 minutes between me thinking of doing this over dinner and me sitting down and coding it after dinner.Durga wrote: ↑Thu Mar 21, 2019 2:54 amAwesome! On that note, I'm very much open to better designs for both the existing profile page and a new user stats page. I might actually post a development survey soon to try and get a better sense of what people want to see. Right now I'm just fixing things I've heard people complain about for the last 10 years.

The last game of this tournament is upon us! Everyone please tune in to the Finals of the GvI tournament, MadMarx vs. xorxes! MadMarx has come from behind to take the first round, handing xorxes his first series loss of the tourney. This one is for all the chips! (and everyone will get their winnings paid out after this one)

Winning 80% of the games in the final GvI pairing is a bit much to ask, especially when the opponent wins 80% of his games, but anything is possible, however improbable:

Re: Announcing the 2018 GvI and FvA Showdowns
My fate was pretty much sealed the moment xorxes drew Germany in the tie-breaker, which I have come to learn is the nature of the GvI beast...
I gave what I could and did much better than I expected having never played the GvI variant when this tournament was announced. I’m proud to have won 60% of the games in the final pairing, especially while drawing Italy 60% of the time, but in the end xorxes would not be denied...
Congrats to the champ, well played xorxes!

Re: Announcing the 2018 GvI and FvA Showdowns
Congratulations to xorxes for winning both tournaments. The amount of domination required to win both is pretty stunning. I'm pretty sure it's unprecedented.
What is also unprecedented is paying out double the points to someone for placing in multiple tournaments. That should not have been permitted to begin with. Since it was, I'm going to compromise and cap this reward at 1.5x, which will still handily make this the largest point payout in webDiplomacy's tournament history. Anyone else who placed in both tournaments will also receive 1.5x winnings.

After all the work xorxes did, are you really going to renege on giving him his 6000 points?

Re: Announcing the 2018 GvI and FvA Showdowns
4,500 is still the most points ever given to a tournament winner by a large margin. 6,000 was an amount that was snuck into the mod approval process in a way that wasn't caught and never should have been allowed. And we're just not willing to give more then 5,000 points for anything. The max cap going forward is 3,000 but it doesn't seem fair to go that low considering the expectation of 6,000.bozotheclown wrote: ↑Sun Jun 09, 2019 4:32 amAfter all the work xorxes did, are you really going to renege on giving him his 6000 points?
Re: Announcing the 2018 GvI and FvA Showdowns
Xorxes has more than 23,000 points. He won't miss the 1,500 points, no. But also, at that level, there's certainly no harm in granting him the full award, in accordance with what was approved and promised. You can go by the new guidelines starting now, and it would be a much better look on the modteam and the site to pay out what was promised.
Re: Announcing the 2018 GvI and FvA Showdowns
Congrats, Xorxes! I should have said that first. It's always fun to watch your games.
And congrats to the rest of the top finishers. Come take the Belt/Crown off my hands!
