Re: Spring 2018 Champions League
I feel like bringing in non-tournament factors is a bad thing. What about three tiebreak games? Though that could be messy too, if everyone won one.MadMarx wrote: ↑Wed Jul 18, 2018 2:29 amCurrent (i.e. latest) 1v1 GR breaks the unbreakable tie?goldfinger0303 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 17, 2018 2:04 pmHey Claesar, what happens if there is a 3-way tie and none of the tiebreakers can break it?
Re: Spring 2018 Champions League
...only if everyone won as Austria (or France), which could easily happen I guess. Anyone know the A vs F breakdown in this current league so far?
Re: Spring 2018 Champions League
I think that global stat's have no meaning.
Results of AvF depend much on the player and even the couple of players.
Re: Spring 2018 Champions League
I'd say that Austria has an advantage even at a high level
But the high level players game advantage is much lower than the newer players advantage

Re: Spring 2018 Champions League
I think a really big Austrian advantage is that you have a very realistic chance to just flat-out win the game on the first turn
Open Porcupine against Belgian Waffle
Open Anti-Alpine against any move to Pie
You're just gonna win a LOT of the time.
Open Anti-Alpine against Belgian Waffle (probably the traditional outcome)
you're probably ballpark 50-50, maaaybe a small underdog
Open Porcupine against any move to Pie
You're gonna lose a LOT of the time
Open Italian
probably a mild favorite against either primary French opening (though I wouldn't absolutely swear to it)

Re: Spring 2018 Champions League
I don't know the cute names.
If Austria opens Bud-Tri, Vie-Tyr, Tri-Alb, then gets into Pie Spr '02 (which can be forced), then the game is won/lost in Fall '02 with the Marseilles guessing game.
Austria takes Marseilles Fall '02, Austria has won
France occupies Marseilles in Fall '02 (and thus can't build there), Austria has very likely won
Marseilles stays open for French build, game on.

Okay, I've scoured everyone's profiles for the results and dumped them into Sheets:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... sp=sharing
Please check these swiftly or lose the right to correct my errors. PM me with corrections.
I need two more games to wrap up quickly before I lose it.
Cspieker and Goldfinger0303, please start one tiebreaker game to decide who's first .

Re: Spring 2018 Champions League
Basically if France doesn't occupy Pie, and Austria leaves Venice alone in 1901, Austria has a major edge (Porcupine is Ven->Alb, Vie-> Tyr, Bud->Gal or Rum), since Austria can make strong use of its fleet potentially threatening MAO (which wins the game outright) or completely freeing up its other units to push harder in Germany or Scandinaviacspieker wrote: ↑Tue Jul 24, 2018 11:20 pmI don't know the cute names.
Similarly, if France DOES occupy Pie, and Austria plays Tri-Ven, Austria will be +1 and should just roll it up
Moreover, if Austria opens Tri-Ven and France leaves Pie alone, then it's about even odds the rest of the way (I think)
And yeah I'd say that the outcome you suggest (Bud-Tri, Vie-Tyr, Tri-Alb is "Italian Opening" fwiw) is useful enough to make Austria a favorite using that opening against the standard French opening (leaving Pie alone) and probably also a favorite when France goes for Pie instead.
Re: Spring 2018 Champions League
The elimination stage of the game will be paired as such, according to HR:
"A1 vs H2
B1 vs G2
C1 vs F2
D1 vs E2
And so on. Stops group stage players meeting again before the Final."
Don't start your games yet though.
