Online Diplomacy Championships 2019
Re: Online Diplomacy Championships 2019
Is the ODC considered the World Championship of "Online" Diplomacy??
Who are the previous year's winners?

Re: Online Diplomacy Championships 2019
There have been two previous ODC tournaments, the first held here and the second at Playdip.
The Playdip one was actually had two people finish on top. Bravo Papa Alpha, who I believe is a Playdipper, and Lebigmac, who is primarily a face to face player but has a presence on Playdip.
As with all diplomacy tournaments, no one actually remembers who won aside from the winners themselves and those who almost won. But the records are around if you know where to look.

The last ODC held on webdip was 2015. The 2017 one was held on Playdip and run partially by carebear though I think he vanished partway through.

I take full credit.

In English, it's common usage to use their when you don' t know the gender of the person spoken about.
Re: Online Diplomacy Championships 2019
I don't think it is that common usage (I had never heard of it before). If I had done this in an essay at high school or at university it would have been marked as incorrect. It appears to be a recent change. e.g. look at a website from a decade ago saying how it is incorrect:Ogion wrote: ↑Sun Jun 16, 2019 11:01 pmflash2015 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 14, 2019 8:53 pm"Their"? Or another website:

Associated Press only changed their style guidelines to allow it in limited cases in 2017:

After taking look at a few opinions I don't have a real objection to the change though.
