There are two England games?? I've seen the link for T-0128: https://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=429773 Can I have the link for the other? Also, which is Doug's and... Re: Austria vs Bots
Meanwhile in England, I decided to convoy to Norway. Germany bounced France in Belgium, and seems to really want to go after Austria... and only gets one build. Russia covered Warsaw and so will build his two units in StP and Mos. Turkey tried to take Rum but failed, guessing he'll still build F Sny...

Ok... The builds are in. https://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=429820 Lots of fleet builds. Including Brest, Smyrna, Naples and Sevastopol. My plan is to support myself and Russia in the spring, move to the Aegean and take Rumania in the fall. The advantage of waiting until '02 to take Rumania ...

Re: Austria vs Bots
Here is the correct link to my England game: https://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=429773 Fall 1901. Germany opened MUN-->TYR and he has a 50/50 guess at TRI/VIE. He is totally non-threatening to France. He can't even contest Belgium. Meantime, France opened to PIC, not BUR, and is totally non-...

Re: Austria vs Bots
Notes from England, Autumn 1901: Well, the German bot played that weird opening that I've seen sometimes where he moves to Tyo, Sil, and Hol. He bounced Italy out of Tyo, which I think is good, but Italy seemed to also split his ambitions and moved to Apu like he wants to convoy into Tunis as oppose...

Re: Austria vs Bots
Thanks for the advice. I figured that Russia was in trouble as he moved his army north. I thought he might also cover Warsaw. Here is the new game: https://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=429820 I decided to support the fleet to Rumania. My concern here was that if I got three builds that the oth...

FYI... This is the plan. This is all based on the idea that Italy either is helping me with a Lepanto or not attacking me. Normal moves... Gal, Ser & Alb Gal, Ser & Gre Build army and fleet Support into Galicia. Block Turkey in Aegean. Expect Italy to win Smyrna. Keep bouncing Italy in Aegean until...

Re: Austria vs Bots
Sure, I'll follow along and do one as England as well:
https://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=429768
There are generally two openings I've played as England: Edi-NWG, Lon-NTH, Lvp-Edi or Edi-NTH, Lon-ENG, Lvp-Yor. Last game I did the latter, maybe this time I'll do the former. We'll see.

Re: Bot Talk
Joe - my suggestion is to try again. In three of the five games where I was playing Austria Italy was my friend or neutral. In two of the five games I was able to get an easy win. With good play and an Italian friend Austria has a good game. I'm assuming you're responding to me, although, FYI, I te...

Re: Bot Talk
Hey Everyone I've been using this thread to talk about my games. Mostly to brag about my wins but also to discuss strategy and the bots sometimes odd (or weak maybe) behavior. I have managed to win with all the powers except England. I recently won with Russia. It was a tough game but I was able to...

Re: Easier Bots
The bots have very little idea what to do in unfamiliar situations (which is why they're so bad at endgame play, I think, cause very few endgames look the same), so in my experience, they get tripped up with stranger openings. You can pretty reliably solo on the bots as Germany, I've found, by doin...

Here is another game as Austria and another win. https://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=428365 Lest you think that playing with Austria and winning is a piece of cake, that is not true. This game is Austria-183 and the previous game was Austria-179. So games 180, 181 and 182 were draws (that I w...

Re: What is the best country in bot games?
Don't know if people are still into playing the bots, but here's another update - I'm up to 50 games with each power for a total of 350 games. My results: Power Wins Win % D S E Austria 9 18.00% 5 9 27 England 14 28.00% 8 15 13 France 23 46.00% 8 9 10 Germany 16 32.00% 9 7 18 Italy 28 56.00% 2 12 8 ...

Re: How to break a stalemate line
Looking near the end, in the spring of 1921 there's two things I see that I wonder about: Bur->Mar and Edi->Nor. The bots had clearly shown in the several turns before that they were intent on tapping Spain, so I think you only need Gas S Mar to hold Mar. For that turn, you could use Mar to support ...

Re: My first Italian win, looking for tips on how to improve.
All that follows is specific to bot games... I actually find that, against the bots, Italy isn't that bad. I've played 42 games as each power against the bots (296 total games, working on round 43) and I have 24 wins as Italy (57%) which is second only to my 31/43 with Turkey (72%). When I first sta...

Re: vWDC MasterClass: Detecting Lies
Oh thanks for messaging, I just figured out last night that there's a problem with the audio (it sounds quiet, and compressed). I checked the raw recording and it was great, so I did something wrong in the editing process. I didn't want to subject anybody to the poor-quality one while I corrected t...
