Should we eat the rich?
Ok, b'ait and switch title, by we I mean the Japanese. And by eat the rich I mean kill their gods? And by ... Ok let me take a step back for context, based on two sources (which may be inaccurate, and I am open to correction), Japan is in an aweful state of stagnation and this is largely down to the...

Great quote from Conservative Muslim and former British cabinet member on Israel:

Referencing a 2019 discussion between Netanyahi and Israeli far right. (Skip to 43 minutes 56 seconds, if my time stamp isn't working)

Re: War, what is it good for?
The whole idea of the UN is that all nations should participate. Do you object to this basic notion? All nations should participate, but leadership roles should be limited to nations that can demonstrate a basic level of suitability and competence Do you object to this basic notion? I object to the...

If someone comes into your home with aging, and shoot you when you tell them it is your home and you should leave, that is not self-defence.
The courts have shown so measure of judgement against these illegal settlements, and the result was the current govt trying to replace the courts.

Re: Howdy folks
I am not aware of any cancellation of folks. I would suspect that folx is along the lines of other words changes where an X (as in Mr, Ms, Mx) is used to be gender neutral, but folks is already gender neutral?

Re: War, what is it good for?
This didn't start with Hamas's recent attack (which I don't support). It started in 1948 with militant Zionists forcing around 50% of the Palestinian population out of their homes and off their land, under threat of murder. To fail to acknowledge that is to be oblivious of the historic context of t...

Re: War, what is it good for?
Israel is defending her citizens by attacking the fascist neighbour that declared war on her. Israel has very little choice in the matter. They have to attack because leaving Hamas undefeated is not a viable position for them to adopt, and they have to bomb because if they send troops in without it...

Not wishing to give the impression that I don't trust your word on this, but I don't trust your word on this. You have shown yourself all too eager to lie in order to stoke hatred against Isreal and Jews. But even if true, it hardly changes anything It doesn't change things. But it does beg the que...

Re: Annual Religious Thread
So assuming your consciousness centered universe. Where does it appear in my many worlds interpretation of the maths? My honest answer is that the many world's interpretation is utter bollocks, and should be used as an example in demonstrating the limitations of mathematics in much the same way as ...

Re: Annual Religious Thread
This is such utter garbage. Sorry but historically the religious justification for moral actions was 'listen to US because we have the authority of God backing us' an appeal to authority. It wasn't encouraging anyone to think deeply about the topic. God as an answer to any question (like why the th...

Re: Annual Religious Thread
People who support their trans friends are not demanding unrestricted surgery upon children. Way to blast a fake dog-whistle. Religious morality used to be "kill all the gays". And you think that was better? But they absolutely are trying to shut down all discussion on it. The big example from earl...

Re: Annual Religious Thread
I think an important part of mainstream religion was that it set down a morality framework which can be used to guide decisions on right and wrong. While we may disagree with some of the decisions, it was well understood how these decisions were made. At least that was my experience with it. Now mo...

Re: Annual Religious Thread
That is one interpretation, and it has gained popularity as it feels considerably safer and more sciency. The problem with that interpretation is, of course, that it is virtually meaningless as everything is being observed all of the time. You might as well have a political theory that is only true...

Re: Annual Religious Thread
If I was going to focus on things about the universe that points towards the existence of God, I'd be more inclined to talk about weird stuff like water, and ice floating rather than sinking as you'd expect, and the impact of a conscious observer on quantum experiments. The latter suggests that an ...
