Re: No mod response

Hey JF1981, trying to figure that out at the moment. We've got a new helpdesk system set up at help.webdiplomacy.net that we're trialing, which currently listens to [email protected] , but still investigating. Appreciate those who are offering to help also.

Re: E-mail notifications?

??? ATC haven't you contributed code?

It wouldn't be very hard to do.. but.. bleah. I'd wait for the phone app which will have notifications etc, I think that's the best way, having to send e-mails to remind people to send orders I dont think many would use

Re: Paid Tournament Through Meta, Signups Open

Once we let facebook infiltrate the webdip community ... Facebook has already "infiltrated" this site and it's awesome. Playing 1v1 against an advanced AI like Fairbot, backed by major corporate resources, where else would you or I be able to do that? I trust the site owners to keep the site ad-fre...

Re: Nuclear power: yes or no?

Seriously you guys, I don't even know why you are arguing with me. *facepalm* This is why: Fossil and fissile fuels are as bad as each other. They are not. All the absurdity about per capita emissions not mattering was you squirming out of the "fossil and fissile fuels are as bad as each other" arg...

Re: Nuclear power: yes or no?

Using nuclear power in Australia is pure fantasy. Australians are some of the worst NIMBYs on the planet. No-one will want this near them AT ALL. Just look at the fight that went on with Sydney airport. It took almost 50 years to break ground on it (it was originally proposed in 1973). I remember t...

Re: Nuclear power: yes or no?

Is it comforting to let go of your share of responsibility for climate change because your per capita output is small compared to the output of another country? If so good for you, but don't pretend you want to move away from fossil fuels and you're just itching to use Twiggy's ammonia or these othe...

Re: Nuclear power: yes or no?

"I guess my main argument against these "options" is that they aren't actually options, they're possibilities." You then immediately proceed to an example of a whole nation with a renewable energy source that is never going to be a solution for the whole world - but entirely appropriate to Iceland ...

Re: Nuclear power: yes or no?

You think nuclear waste storage is dangerous and pumped hydro is safe? How many people have died due to nuclear waste? Chernobyl - 31 dead (28 were within 3 months) https://www.bbc.com/future/article/20190725-will-we-ever-know-chernobyls-true-death-toll I would say Chernobyl probably killed more th...

By the way I'm not angry or worried or anything .. I'll be long gone.. I'm more interested in how people justify being against nuclear power because I just can't make sense of it.

Re: Nuclear power: yes or no?

I also believe you are way out with your assessment of how long it would take for enriched Thorium technologies to be developed, (possibly a century) This is not still at abstract, theoretical stage, these technologies are in development or in use, albeit limited to India for electricity generation...

Re: Nuclear power: yes or no?

Wishing, when you say our coal consumption is minuscule is that a per capita comparison or a cruder comparison that doesn't allow for differences in populations . We Australianns like to think we don't have a big environmental footprint, aren't big energy consumers because we have a relatively smal...

Re: Nuclear power: yes or no?

You have to be kidding right? In the Australian context there is no value at all in Nuclear. In our context it costs 3x the equivalent coal fired power generation capability, and who in their right mind thinks that the downside risks inherent in Nuclear fission are worth taking just to turn on a fu...

Codazen & FAIR 3rd party dev work

AI researchers have been interested in Diplomacy as a benchmark for AI research because of the many challenges inherent to the game: multiplayer cooperation and...
