HI DougJoe,
I liked that story quite a bit. I liked how the focus was on forgiveness being a healthy thing that allowed him to avoid the resentment that might make him relapse. It is a healthy habit.

Re: Forgiveness is a matter of eternal life and death
You are correct CA, the original post was about forgiving others if we expect God to forgive us. Yep. I like that player name Gnome Chomsky. I did too. If I had it to do over again, I'd probably have gone with Lily Putin. For using my performing name "Dusty Balzac" in a D&D game i would suggest as ...

I would like to point out though, that the OP was talking about the need for us to forgive others.

Re: Forgiveness is a matter of eternal life and death
Hello again MajorMitchell, There is no need for Gods or Religions in the processes by which we decide what are Lawful &/or good behaviours and what behaviours are Not Lawful and/or Bad in order to have Civil Societies in which people behave ethically with compassion. Your use of "Guilty for Raping &...

Re: Forgiveness is a matter of eternal life and death
The way Christianity, Islam & other religions use the concept of Forgiveneds is most interesting fodfer for contemplation. Maybe, let's see were this is heading anyway. The basic model is, declare certain behaviours sinful & create guilt which needs absolution via confession & repentance, acts of p...

Re: Forgiveness is a matter of eternal life and death
Jesus wants us to forgive everybody : https://thebrickbible.com/onenemies/ That’s an epistle you’re referencing not a Gospel, so it’s Paul on forgiveness not Jesus on forgiveness. If you want to have that discussion, I might find some time to get around to it, but let’s dispense with the false attr...

Re: Forgiveness is a matter of eternal life and death
To address the idea of process and return a little more to the OP, I find that forgiveness is vital in my daily life as well. The more I forgive, that is truly forgive and let go of something that bothers me, the more relaxed and calm I am and the less problems that I have. Focusing as much as possi...

Re: Forgiveness is a matter of eternal life and death
It is believed that Constantine, who brought Christianity to the Roman Empire, was baptized on his deathbed, so he could die without sin. Interesting bet. There's a special section of hell reserved for the sort of person who tries to game the system  What happens to an infant who dies before ...

Re: Forgiveness is a matter of eternal life and death
What happens to an infant who dies before baptism? They die a sinner? It isn't really that controversial a question, although it's an important one. Essentially, what octavious said, it is handled in most denomination's catechisms. The general belief, which can only be stated as the rule for most, ...

One question,
Is it poison ivy or poison oak? If so, I can foresee some problems there.

Re: Deglobalization
Actually, I have to take that back. I just saw a video from him yesterday. He has been pretty consistently saying that Russia will eventually win against Ukraine. His whole take on Russia's expansionism is that they need to expand to take over the nine traditional avenues for conquest of Russia. It ...

Re: Deglobalization
I have seen a bit from him on YouTube, but have not read any of his books yet. My initial take is that he seems to paint a bit of a rosy picture for the USA. He's totally turned 180 degrees on Ukraine (like the rest of us, he thought the resistance would be short lived and Russia would win even if n...

Perhaps a benefit of Trumptoad's corrupt and dangerous acts that have threatened Democracy in the USA is the resulting mobilisation of those who now realise the threat that he and his supporters pose to their democracy, they have been shaken from apathy into action? For most people in the USA, it s...

You can write a Christmas Classic
Add a verse at a time in the style of Dr. Seuss: The Grinch on Mt. Crumpet liked Christmas a lot, But the Who's down in Whoville, Did not. While the Grinch hung his wreaths and some candles with wire, The mayor on Who Square spoke to spark the Whos' ire, then they all grabbed up pitchforks and wood ...

Re: Why do Christians like the antichrist so much?
Final tally, for Trump toadies in my voting districts was that five were eliminated in the primaries, of the remaining two, one was defeated in a runoff; and only one got into office. I’ll be keeping a sharp eye on our new lieutenant governor, but the governor and Secretary of State were particular ...
