Re: fans stunned to learn that sport they dont watch has pay inequality to sport they do watch
College sports are HUGE in the US. Especially college football Why is that exactly? Is there just a very strong sense of affiliation between people and the colleges they attended as young adults? I think it's more of a regional thing than alumni. Two schools in an area develop a rivalry (or an inte...

Re: Scar is the hero of the Lion King
Johnny Lawrence is the hero of The Karate Kid... and Danny Larusso is the real villain. Ugh, another Cobra Kai revisionist. You completely ignore the context of the self defense situations that Danny Larusso found himself in. Sure, he was throwing the first punch, but was always put into an untenab...

Re: Do Roman records prove Jesus' existence was a hoax?
I can only conclude that MM's most recent post was, in fact, satire. Hopefully the D riding of Robert Graves is too I don't think anyone was deriding the author. When I looked the novels up, the review I saw classified them as historical fiction; and they seemed interesting. I'll probably read them.

Crazy Anglican you are acting like a cork brained clown by dismissing the work.of Robert Graves in such a disrespectful manner. The man has impressive academic qualifications, far superior to any that YOU (and I ).might have. Go fuck yourself for your impudent ignorant slur of a highly respected ma...

I do like historical fiction. I'll probably read the novels. I'm not sure what you're asserting though, so I haven't responded directly.

There is pretty good evidence of Jesus's resurrection right here since not even a thread written about Him will die.
Re: Wendy's
Wendy’s can be pretty good for a standard burger chain. It usually beats out McDonalds or Burger King if they have a good manager. Five Guys is way overpriced for what they deliver.

Re: why is there no roman record of Jesus execution
If I may ask, why does it seem are we now debating our various reasons for believing/disbelieving in religion/God? The original title has been answered definitively, and now we're just going on tangents and have (seemingly) sparked new argument/debate. Also, is it really that difficult to ask of pe...

Re: why is there no roman record of Jesus execution
I've thought my position through over 42+ years of existence on Earth. I cannot conceive of God. I cannot conceive of God existing. The concept of God appears absurd to me. From that point it is deeply, rationally, practically sensible for me to assume there is no God, and to proceed accordingly in...

for instance, you just characterized an entire organization as bigoted That is a startling misrepresentation of "modern day religion often just allows hateful and bigoted people to proudly lean on 'holy' messages that they've twisted and contorted to fit their bias" True enough. Re: why is there no roman record of Jesus execution
This is a bothersome challenge to me. You would challenge a group of people on their lack of belief of something that you admit leans more heavily on faith than it does factual findings and historical evidence? I genuinely wish my experience with the Baptist church and the hate that it okays wasn't...

Re: why is there no roman record of Jesus execution
In all reality this is actually just a recreation of an old thread from many years ago in which the exact same OP was presented and spawned a large number of replies. Ultimately the real question you should be asking is was Jesus crucifixion due to pressure by Jewish elites of Jerusalem or by Roman...

You're right, I did make that assumption, and it might be erroneous. I only meant to state that I wasn't attempting to proselytize.

Re: why is there no roman record of Jesus execution
There isn’t a challenge to his existence. There is a challenge to his resurrection, and if he was who he said he was, but that’s an entire other thread. So you agree that He suffered under Pontius Pilate, [and He] Was crucified, died and was buried? Yes, in fact, that’s why I said there isn’t a cha...
