Re: 1v1 practice

Spring 1902 - if you’re gonna abandon pie you might as well go whole hog and run bur-mun as that becomes a STRONG force in Munich if you can take it there. I wouldn't want to leave Mar AND Spa empty, but I definitely should have considered GoL-Spa or GoL-Mar instead so that I could send Bur toward ...

Re: C-diplo gunboats

Why would you ever want to play a force 1907 draw game... that's absurd
It is a tournament/league style scoring system.

Re: 1v1 practice

I'm willing to play some practice/teaching games. I'm ranked 29 in 1v1 apparently. However, I've mostly played against IRL friends, I haven't played many people ranked above me, and I haven't played nearly the volume of games some others have. So, I don't know where I truly stand. If you are a total...

Re: New to the game, and advice would be appreaciated

I would read the actual rulebook if that isn't the one you are referring to. http://www.wizards.com/avalonhill/rules/diplomacy_rulebook.pdf There is a "New Games" forum that you can check or post in to try and get a game going. Also you could play some 1v1s (France vs. Austria or Italy vs. Germany) ...

Re: Suggest an Awesome Opening!

Austria Andrew Goff is known for A Vie – Tyl; A Bud – Gal, and many of the best American players regularly avoid arranged bounces in Galicia. from: https://diplomacyopenings.wordpress.com/austria/galician-gambit/ I haven't even tried this but it is definitely a non-standard opening so I thought I'd ...

Re: I save but orders remain red. Why?

This has been present for a long time and it is a little annoying. It happens when: - Unit has an order set (Paris move Burgundy) and saved. - You think... "hmmm maybe I should move it to Gas instead" so you change it to "Paris move to Gascony" but you *don't* hit save. - You change your mind back t...

Re: Question about support

On webdip (and others) supports are clarified into "support move" and "support hold". From the rulebook: Writing a support order 1. Write your unit type (A or F). 2. Then write the province where your unit is located. 3. Then, write an “S” (for Support). 4.Finally, write the type, current location, ...

if they open to yorkshire, they'll need nth to convoy.
They can still convoy Yor-Den over NTH and do NWG-Nwy...

Your only "protection" from the bounce seems to be A Mos-StP.

Re: the dutch blitzkrieg

If you open to Hol/Ruh/Kie then I see England leaving Belgium alone and bouncing A Kie-Den. Then you can't even build a fleet in Kiel. If Russia moves Mos->StP and forces England to support themselves into Nwy then you still have the other problem mentioned previously with the army in Den being a bi...

Backstabbr also has multi-recipient messaging if you want to look at their UI for it. Messages are sort of done as threads regardless of how many recipients there are. I'm not crazy about it, just an FYI.

Re: German Strategy Thread: Forum Inauguration Edition

1) I prefer to go after England but I always leave my options open in 1901 because I have no idea what anyone else is actually going to do. So while I may try to organize a Sea Lion occasionally I'd rather wait and see in 1901. What the rest of the board does impacts everything going forward and it ...

Re: German Strategy Thread: Forum Inauguration Edition

Not a ton of experience with Germany but: • How do your talks with Russia tend to go, especially concerning Sweden? I ask Russia to move Moscow south and if that is done I will be very likely to let him into Swe. Then I open Kie-Den, Mun-Ruh, Ber-Kie. In the Fall I do Den-Ska, Kie-Den, Ruh-Hol. So I...

Re: Announcing the 2018 GvI and FvA Showdowns

How long is the tournament expected to last in real time (months)?

edit: Found my answer
"The webDiplomacy Inaugural 1v1 Showdown began in January 2017, and ended 11 months later on November 5th."
