Re: Diplomatic Pouch Zine - New Issue!

As the author of the article and editor of the Pouch, allow me to reply to the Web Dev's accusations here. I wanted to take a moment to express my disappointment as an admin on 2 diplomacy sites with this issue of the Zine. Over the past few years all of the online diplomacy sites have made an effor...

Re: LMS Mission Oktoberfest

I continue to be disappointed that the zine is ignoring criticism of their support for sexist commentary. And until they address it any post they make on this site will get the following posted under to it raise awareness of their continued support of sexist behaviors in the hobby. Please see the i...

LMS Mission Oktoberfest

A new year, a new Zine, a new puzzle. Not a riddle this time. If anything is unclear about the setup, just ask. The link to the problem is given below. Only the first puzzle interests us here. http://www.diplomatic-pouch.org/Zine/F2018M/LMS/munich.html This is a so-called Last Man Standing puzzle. T...

Re: The Stirring Case of the Double French

Who cares about a crown? This entertained me my whole flight home. Thanks for this, I love riddles. Send more my way if you get them. The Pouch has a sizable collection of puzzles that should keep you occupied for quite a while. Check all three sections in the List of Articles, Puzzles , Last Man S...

Re: The Stirring Case of the Double French

Ah, I got it! Same solution I posted, except the last year it's Nth C Lon-Nwy in Spring and then Nwy-StP and Nth-Hol. So the train goes from Moscow to St Petersburg. That's right! As to deciding who solved it first, let's simply agree that the crown is shared between Squigs44, who cracked the color...

Re: The Stirring Case of the Double French

Yeah, I moved on from the Denmark thing. I can post the solution if you all want, but I figured others would probably want to look at it some more before I spoiled it. A noble thought. If you want recognition, contact me in private with your solution. Otherwise there's no way to tell if you were ju...

17 SCs controlled by Turkey (or all of the remaining countries combined), 34 supply centers total. Also 17*2 = 34, hence the double in double French. But how does this help us exactly?
What if "Turkey" is just like the rest, a color to indicate what centers get captured in the final year?

Re: The Stirring Case of the Double French

What if the colors dont represent countries? France could be playing by themselves, and the colors are something like the year in which France captured them. Started with France in 1901, got Germany in 1902, England 1903, Austria 1904, and hasn't captured Turkey yet. There are a couple problems wit...

Then again, it could be something else entirely. Perhaps they weren't even playing Diplomacy, but merely etch-a-sketching.
The game follows normal Diplomacy rules with the inclusion of a few fairly well-known variant rules that anyone who has ever played variants would probably recognize.

Turkey is on 17, but I doubt we have a stalemate here. Your best bet would be to email the mods to ask for a forced draw, hoping one of them is drunk enough to execute your request :?
I can assure you, Turkey isn't going to win this game.

What do you mean by "the London army"?
It's actually "the army from London", which means that it was built in London, either at the start or in the course of the game. Just wanted to clear that up.

Would you prefer we not work together in a public forum to solve it?
No. Collaborate as much as you like. I'm just enjoying the to and fro.

Are the French forces in control of Bre, Par, Mar the same player as holds London?

If so, why are they a different colour?
Great question. The answer to it will get you a far way.

I'm also working with the assumption that the first riddle was given as a hint that the second one would make as little sense as that first one.
 Don't fear. The actual puzzle is perfectly logical, once you understand what's going on.
