Re: 20 Questions, Game 298
There were some very impressive solves yesterday. Well done to each of Hominidae, Aristocrat, and DreamTrawler. Since we're on the subject of rules: I've actually had a proposal for reforming the system of free and non-free guesses in the back of my mind for some time. Allowing non-free guesses som...

Re: Twenty questions, round 296
Born in Chinese Outer Mongolia, Japanese-occupied Manchuria or Japanese-occupied Korea? I see where you are going with this question, and I thought of Tibet and Hong Kong also, but the question QM passed on was "born in what is now China, Taiwan or Japan." These places you ask about are all now cle...

Re: XX Questions Game 294
I don't have an objection per se, but I would note that game masters can always choose to hand the game off to another player even if they won the game.

Re: XX Questions – Game CCXCIII
I like some parts of the old rules, but this section always bothered me, even though I wasn't playing back when people really used these rules: Before the twentieth question is answered, players who have not yet used their free guess may choose to expend their free guess alongside two consecutive q...

free guess: Gaspar de Guzmán, Count-Duke of Olivares? You got it! Richelieu and Olivares , by J. H. Elliott, is a great, short book that explains this period of history. I couldn't help but laugh when I read in this thread comments like that Spain was a highly "centralized kingdom". If only! You gu...
