Re: What is Morality?

Re: What is Morality?
Your claim that secular morality is subject to majority rule or might-makes-right oversimplifies and misrepresents the nature of ethical theories like Universal Human Rights, Utilitarianism, and Social Contract Theory. These frameworks are not arbitrary; they are grounded in rational thought, empat...

Re: What is Morality?
Both. I feel like an element of it is innate, but that it can be nurtured. If empathy is innate, then it must have a genetic (or similar quality). That means that either a deity decided it was a good trait (God-given morality), or it was genetically advantageous to survival, which points to a might...

Re: What is Morality?
There exist ultimate standards aplenty, such as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights that just celebrated its 75th anniversary within the last week. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights doesn't actually establish morality, just states rights belonging to a given moral code. Also, it only ...

Re: Buttons at the top of the home screen
I find that if someone messages the "All" channel, it will still mark it as unread after you read it unless you manually click the button that says "All" again, even if it's already on that tab.

American? No. This should rule out the whole continent (hemisphere). If 'white' means Caucasian then that rules out Arabs, Turks, Persians and other Middle Easterners. Other questions rule out the rest of Africa and much of East Asia. So we're left with South Asians, Southeast Asians, Australian ab...

Re: XX Questions - Game CXLV
This post doesn't contain any questions for JECE; it is just chit-chat. So given the date of death, this person's date of birth is likely to be between the 1800s and the 1880s. Please no more questions about birth or death dates, that's a small enough range to work with. Something that I have wonde...

Did this person die before February 29, 1921?
(Yes, I know that day didn't exist, but I mean Feb. 28 or earlier is a yes, March or later a no.)

Oh, Mister Thicko. Imagine not knowing that! Imagine going and fucking yourself! In a bit of a grump this morning, old chap? I don't recall that particular response being favoured in any of the Blackadder scripts. I confess to hoping for something a bit more creative, or at the very least a recogni...
