Re: Has Diplomacy activity come down in last 5 years ?
In my experience, yes. I returned to this site after a nearly ~ 10 years absence and it was much less active than before.
Whether it's a site-specific thing with Backstabbr etc. rising in popularity, or whether it's a demographic change in older players not being replaced, I'm not sure.

Re: Quiet or is it just me?
As somebody who took a decade-long hiatus from the site before returning earlier this year, I can definitely attest to a fall in activity over that period.
Though I am sure there were plenty of peaks and troughs over the intervening period!

Going by the tenor of this discussion, you should be glad there isn't such a feature OP, or you'd be getting a lot of -1s :D

Re: Twenty Questions - Game 41
Hercule Poirot The first Hercule Poirot story was published in 1920. I don't think it can be Poirot based on this answer: From a work of fiction created after 1945? There is no correct answer to that question I'm afraid. I think Yes would be the least misleading answer. Don't agree at at all. Poiro...

The only Spanish (by birth) conquistador I know is Hernan Cortes.
But Google advises me to guess: Francisco Pizarro.

Re: 20 Questions - game 25
Brainstorm: other than Blackbeard I also considered Alexander Selkirk but given both are sailors rather than soldiers I’m not confident in them. I am struggling to think of a solider, involved in politics but not a politician.
Think this could be one where I kick myself.
