Re: Game Frozen / Not Processing
Sorry all, took a while but I think I've got to the bottom of it. An issue meant some games took a long time to process and this caused a large backlog of games to build up, mainly unattended AI games, eventually causing the server to get thousands of games behind. The unattended bot games were clea...

Re: Issues
Okay I think I found it; a recent change to make us compliant with the latest rules from Renegade meant we had to compute the distance between supply centers and units to determine which unit to destroy in no destroy order was placed. The code that did this which ChatGPT spat out I didn't vet thorou...

Re: Issues
Thanks for being on top of it Darg. Not sure exactly what's going on at the moment, there's a PHP host process that's using 100% CPU for some reason which is causing the game processor to be very slow, but not sure what's causing it to use all the CPU. It's not the game master, not seeing any big tr...

Re: Version 3.0 of DATC published
Thanks Lucas, much appreciated you updating this for the new ruleset. Will try and make the changes required asap. In the meantime I've added this document to our documentation as part of the webDip repo, so you can link to it here if you like, this URL for this version of the DATC will not change o...

Re: Possible bug in sandbox.
Thanks for reporting. It'd help if you could keep that sandbox open and on the same phase so I can troubleshoot it when I get a chance.. RL is has been chewing up all my spare dev / hobby time for the last few months, and probably will do for the next few as well.. It's a shame as the activity/stats...

Re: Diplomacy Angel Fund
I saw this on Facebook, really hope it works out as it would be great to help foster F2F more. Interested where you're centred, the US or Australia? (I feel Australia does a lot of F2F, especially accounting for its size and low population)

Re: Christmas Drawing Give-away
FYI the board games are on the way, I send out one extra one. The mugs are being a bit of a pain as for some reason my account can only go to Australia, but they'll get there I've asked support what the deal is.

Re: Christmas Drawing Give-away
Happy Xmas and congrats to all the winners! Looking forward to shipping out some board games and mugs, I have to say the sample mug I got myself came out pretty well; definitely will be happy to have it on my desk at work.

Re: any hope to have web site designer hide the Google Recaptcha badge?
Thanks for the heads up. We don't actually even use recaptcha anymore now that we have the custom map-based bot query, so I'll remove this.

Re: Announcements should only be posted by moderators
Thanks so much for all of the clarifications kestasjk! I was wrong about the existence of Discord-based games -- turns out the one thing I was looking had a Game Master who was manually adjudicating orders 0.0 I'm curious whether this webDip Discord is the official one: https://discord.gg/Q6PtSZc Y...

Re: Are Atheists inherently amoral?
I think religion works well for a lot of people and that's great. As long as you don't push your beliefs on others / judge others I think do what works for you.
No -ist is inherently immoral.

Re: Christmas Drawing Give-away
Sorry if I’m being blunt, but can I ask why? There is no incentive for you to do so (if I understand this right) and someone like me who hasn’t yet donated to the site could easily put in a name and take a prize. Or is it just for fun? Why not? I think it's just for fun. Call it the world I’m livin...

Re: Announcements should only be posted by moderators
This all raises super interesting questions about what WebDip should be and who it is for. I love the old-fashioned early 2000s feel of the forum. I find it extremely refreshing in 2023. It definitely isn't the sort of thing that grows a community all on its own. But it's something unique that keep...

Re: Announcements should only be posted by moderators
I'm an oddball on my generation, but as a high schooler I will note that I greatly prefer an on-site forum to discord or reddit. I don't think it needs much if any changing, but I do urge you not to remove any of it in favor of some "nuetral" social media platform. Yep I like having our own forum t...

Re: BlighterDalekBots~in World Variant games?
Unfortunately that's pretty unlikely to happen MM: We can tweak the parameters of the AI model, e.g. make them easier/harder, chattier/quieter, less/more rude, truthful/deceptive, etc, but we can't (without buying supercomputer time and a *lot* of effort) train new models that would know about a dif...

Re: Bot Talk
Apologies if this has been asked previously, but are the bots playing PPSC? You mean are they playing to win or are they optimizing for supply centers? I'm almost certain they're playing to win, but not 100% sure, I'll ask when I next get a chance Also, did someone once mention that y’all have bett...

Re: Announcements should only be posted by moderators
I guess it comes down to whether or not the purpose of the forum is to support WebDip gameplay and grow the community of Diplomacy players. I would argue that this forum is distracted/distracting from that purpose in a variety of ways. Personally, I prefer this platform and think it’s a shame that ...
