What happened to live variants?

I go through phases of being on here a lot and then taking an extended break, and one thing I’ve noticed recently is the lack of live games for different variants.

A few years ago when I first joined it felt like there were more American and Modern II live games scheduled for the weekend - is that not a thing anymore? I really enjoy those maps in a fast paced setting and would be happy in getting them up and running again.
