Another great feature would be able to create games with different lengths for build/retreat and orders phases.

Also being able to select whether or not the game progresses to the next phase when all orders are submitted as opposed to only progressing when the timer runs out would be excellent.

This great comment is from chluke:

I think players who abuse GR by abandoning losing positions, will continue to do so until the GR calculation itself (and not a separate side rating) is re-programmed such that the GR points contributed by a player at the start of the game are FORFEITED, rather than oddly and counter-productively being returned to the player on game abandonment.

The GR calculations for game pot and distribution among winners/drawers doesn't even need to change (I don't believe), as long as the abandoning players simple have their upfront contributed GR points deducted from their total GR rating upon game abandonment.

Players in the top 100 (and others) who have been abusing this loophole (to avoid GR deductions when in losing positions), would likely see their ratings drop very significantly, upon GR reprogramming which does not allow this game quitting loophole incentive.

Under Search/Games/Scoring, to be able to choose "Ranked" (as in ALL ranked games) would be useful. Thanks for asking.

If the researchers require something to balance out those who have selfishly demanded to participate without payment, I am willing to step into the breach and receive payment for no participation.

I'm outside the US and don't want to get paid.

The biggest problem on this site by FAR is the mods.

You pause games when 1 player asks, then forget about the game for months. All the other players stop playing the game, and then you have 3 different mods starting, stopping and restarting that same game.

The result is 16 players who are now pissed off, bitter at the site, bitter at the mods, and are having their reliability rating destroyed because of a game they started months ago that was paused without asking them.

Mods habitually pause games without consent, then forget about the game, and then force players to either "play" the corpse of the game or have their reliability rating destroyed.

I've been on this site for 10+ years, since it was on facebook, and its taken a steep nosedive after Chris and Kosta left.

You need better mods. Everything else is small fries. Everything else is details.

I lied. I have a second thought :
Should live games be counted in RR% ? I suggest not.

I have only one comment, and I give it freely :

In my dreamworld, the current GR for press and gunboat for all players would be listed by rank somewhere on the site, or through a link.
If the RR were included for each player on the list I would be in heaven.
If the number of finished games used in the calculation for each player were added, I would have reached Nirvana.

Would you like to take part in a 60-minute remote, 1-on-1 paid research interview?

We are helping to organize a user research study looking at the game of Diplomacy, how people play the game online, and how people use our website. We’ll use the results of the study to inform upcoming improvements. This will be a paid study conducted by a third-party specialist.

If you are interested in being a participant, please see the details below and fill out this preliminary survey to be considered: https://www.tfaforms.com/4973421

Any information you provide will be treated as confidential and will not be shared outside of this research project.

This will help shape where webDip is going so I hope we get a wide set of people applying. Apologies that it’s only for people in the US; most of our user base is there, and it’s just not practical to be a market research company that can comply with privacy requirements in countries all over the world.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to: [email protected]

Edit: Updated for the new study link.
