1969 Ladies Singles champion Ann Jones winner of 8 grand slam titles.

The famous in or before 1959 was difficult but as a Wimbledon semi finalist in 1958 and US semi finalist in 1959 I thought it reasonable.

The 'author' question was a bit misleading. According to wikipedia she wrote a book entitled "Tackle Table Tennis This Way" having played in Table Tennis world championships.

I was a bit surprised to get all the way through without a male/female dead/alive question!

Emphasis mine. The rules make it clear that my and Jamie's guesses should be counted as free, and therefore our later guesses should be counted as guesses.
