Yes, I would say so.
Of course, Lee Sedol was, at one point, the best go player in the world, but I know of him because of his involvement in the AlphaGo match. (See also the "#1" question I passed on.)

When I saw Damo's question, I thought "What about that Go player I was considering?" I ctrl-Fed "go player", saw that the person was born too early, but then saw that it was "1 of 2", and then looked at the other Go player and he fit perfectly.
