Dionysius Exiguus?
You are correct! The guy who (incorrectly) calculated Jesus's birth year and is therefore the reason why we now say that it's 2025 or whatever year. When I started this game I wasn't sure how I would categorize his source of fame, but "mathematics" is spot-on. I am curious as to how you figured this one out.
I saw the hint the QM gave by +1ing my 535 AD question, but couldn't figure out where to go from that. Good pick.
I had originally planned to do this for round 525, but I wasn't the QM that round.

Brute force. With period narrowed down there are very few births per year (sometimes none) and mostly Chinese so it's not that laborious. Although he is not described as a mathematician per se I was pretty confident I'd found the culprit.

This is the disadvantage of picking someone early medieval or earlier. I might be giving you a clue as to the next round.....

Dionysius Exiguus?
That's a very good guess.

Is this person commonly listed as a Greek mathematician while actually having a different origin?
The only guesses I could come up with were Greek, though some of them lived outside of Greece.

Does this person have a French language Wikipedia page that's dedicated for the person? (A rule named after him doesn't count.)
Yes.

1. Real human
4,5,6,7,9,11. Born before 535 AD, but after 501 BC, and not during the Western Han period (202 BC - 9 AD)
12,13. Born in Europe, but not in what is now Italy
3. Not female
10. Not of Greek origin
8. Primarily known for science/mathematics
2. It is unlikely that this person ever studied chemistry as part of their education (if they had one)
