I started replaying the game on your lichess link. At move 6, doesn't white win the bishop with Qa4+? I've been doing a lot of lichess puzzles lately and that is a recurring one.

If another team chess game is in the works, I'd love to join. (I'm an average player.)
Nc6 blocks the check and defends the bishop
Yes, you're right. I see your comment in the lichess commentary :-) After ... Nc6, white could play Bb5 and the knight is pinned, but I guess black could just retreat the bishop at that point.

If someone wants to organize round 4 of team chess, I'd be happy to play (though I would defer to someone else for the organization). Also, see miminena's post to set up a chess tournament; I'm also happy to play 1-day-per-move correspondence games on Lichess if you challenge me.

also, i would like to point out the tragedy of the rook on a1, the only rook not to move this game. i think the canonical ending after Qxg7 should include Rb1 just as a homage to DT :3
Actually, after ... Qd8, 25. 0-0-0 (with the intention of Rh1) is mate in only 1 additional move. (Also, see the first Team Chess game for a similar joke.)

Mimi, I added you to the Lichess study, in case you want to add any of your own thoughts as annotations. (And I'm happy to do the same for anyone else with a Lichess account.)
i saw! just wanted to wait for you to finish your analysis :)
I'll be working on it off and on, so feel free to go ahead and add whatever you want.

I think, as the organizer of the game, it is best to simply call it, as white has forced checkmate in at most 2 more moves (24... Qd8 prolongs the game the longest, but still loses to 25. Qxh6+ Kg4 26. Qh3#).

I saved the game as a Lichess study: https://lichess.org/study/3RSdT7xp/9itmhtTd

I have no idea if the analyzer I’m using is correct, but it viewed both the first and last moves in this sequence as severe blunders:

13. Bxh7+ Kxh7
14. Ng5+ Kg8
15. Qh5 Bd7

I am a relative novice at chess but I thought it was interesting that white had a slow but steadily increasing advantage all game until then, and black surrendered back its gains with a relatively innocuous move 2 turns later
Well, I am bemused to know that the computer thinks that my sacrifice (I was the one who played 13. Bxh7+) was a blunder!
I looked at two engines and both had the best white could do as being a stalemate after that, if black had made an offensive move like qb5 instead of bd7

what was the point behind the sacrifice? I assume there was one but I can't figure it out :p
Well, the point of the sac was basically what happened in the game: White gets to play Ng5+ and Qh5 in very quick succession, and busts up Black's kingside. I felt that White would not be worse after the sac - there was a good chance of either winning an exchange back (as happened in the game) to establish rough material equality or getting a perpetual check as a worst-case scenario. It also just made the game much more interesting!

I am starting to put some of my thoughts as annotations in the Lichess study above.

I vote resign.
I think that's two votes to resign. We could either see if more votes come in, or we could simply play out the rest of the game rather quickly (it shouldn't take long).
Would have to be e4 wouldn't it? Else ++
And white still has forced mate.

Deffo resign.

This is not valid is it? Kf7
Why would Kxh5 be invalid?
Sorry, brainfade. I was thinking the Rook was still on the h file.
