Does this apply to Drake?

>Primarily or largely famous for exploring or colonizing an area that is now part of the United States?
Drake stopped by what is today California (just north of San Francisco) on his circumnavigation of the world and claimed it for England under the name "New Albion". https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Albion

I don't think that this is what he is *primarily* famous for, but it is certainly a meaningful part of his fame.

An amusing related article.

“ an area that is now part of the United States” might only refer to colonizing and not exploring

You know, I thought of him, and now I have no idea why I discarded that idea.

What's really funny is I almost said "Cornwall or Devon" instead of "Cornwall".
