11. not MOST famous as a scientist (meaning chemist/physicist/biologist) although he certainly was a scientist
12. not a writer of fiction (at least that I know of and certainly not why he is famous)
13. born before 1st January 1907

Depends what you call science but in the chemistry/biology/physics definition no.
Sorry this answer is a bit misleading because he can be described as a scientist but not what he is MOST famous for (keeping the above definition).

So that eliminates "scientific" from "academic, scientific or literary achievement." We are left with "academic or literary achievement".
